Love Revenge Or Greed

That day was very special for bunch of new joiners at office, 1st day of corporate life for fresh graduates; canteen is full of young enthusiastic associates. Bunch of Induction events lined up throughout the day, good vibes in the office environment. Every year this day will take us all to our flashback.

Post lunch our manager come to ODC with a smart new joiner. Vishnu introduced himself to the team, after a quick intro he was directed to the work place next to me, He was enjoying every moment of that day. We continued our chit chat with coffee; Vishnu is a very smart joyful guy quickly gelled with the team.

Few month passed, we were working on few innovative projects, part of that we recruited few interns. Priya good looking very smart graduate joined our team. We started noticing the effort put by Vishnu to impress Priya. We used to troll him in some instances. In a short time we could see them hanging out over weekend parties, short trips etc. Particularly I was closely working with both of them in an assignment, so they used to often share some interesting incidents.

Priya gets permanent job offer post graduation in our company. Friendship turns to love story, both being cute couple, I always wished them to be great partners. Vishnu being bit immature, Priya was quite opposite always used to take very thoughtful decisions.

Few years passed, Vishnu switched the Job. One day Priya told me that she is searching for new house for rent, which reminds me one of my friends who was looking for tenant for her flat next to our apartment. I suggested to check, after a few weeks Priya moved into that flat, sometimes we used to drive back home together from office.

Few months passed, One Saturday evening Priya messages me saying she is feeling low, can we meet if free. I invited her to come home, she said to talk about something important and we plan to meet in park on Sunday evening. Priya explained me the situation: Vishnu informed his family about their love story and the complications around it.

I Said: What is the problem there no caste difference also right?

Priya explains: No caste problem, but me being orphan they are creating issues. They are getting alliances from rich family. I don’t know what to do now. I can’t imagine my life without Vishnu. I am going mad and started crying.

I tried my level best to console her and advised her to have patience with time things will sort out. I kept an eye on her in office. It started impacting her work badly. I could feel her pain if someone talks about the matter she used to cry a lot. I was supporting her as much I can.

One evening I invited her to my home. She was lost in her own thought, after dinner we took a short walk. She opened up and said things are going worst, Vishnu trying to convince his parents they are not listening to him instead coming up with new alliance every week. I have invested everything in this relationship I do not know what will happen to my future. I again advised her not to lose hope, have patience keep trying to convince them finally which parents wish something bad for their own kids. They will understand one or the other day. I messaged Vishnu also that night and we talked about it in similar lines.

One fine day as soon as I reach office my college tells me that there is a big HR incident happened in the morning. HR gets a message from Priya early morning saying “I cannot take this pressure anymore. Please take care of my belongings”. HR reached out to her she did not picked her call and later HR sent someone to her house to check what is happening. Even I am trying to reach her from long, no reply to the call.

After an hour also we heard back from the HR that they checked in her house and she was not there in the house, they tried checking with the neighbors, no one knows anything, later Security informs them that early morning she took an auto and went somewhere but she was looking very upset. With no option left HR reached out to that area police station and figures out that Priya is in that police station.

Priya goes to the police station around 8 o’clock that day and gives the complaint that Vishnu raped her. In the statement she says that 2 days back Vishnu came home to discuss on the family tension. Discussion turns into heated argument, he hit me and physically abused me, shows few bruises and marks around her hand and neck as proof.

Later we figured out from some of Vishnu’s close friends that Vishnu got married on previous day and Priya found out from some common friend and ends up with this. Looks like she took drastic decision to screw his entire life and gives police complaint.

Police arrest Vishnu on rape charges immediate next day of his marriage. He was in jail for a week also, but Priya disconnect from everyone and leave the city. Police search for her, without any clue and further evidence they release Vishnu after a month also.

Being close with both of them this tragic ending shook me completely. Societal insecurity and mostly the parent’s greed cost 3 beautiful lives. I felt very bad especially the new bride what was her fault in it?
