Lucky Love Story

I am Mohan, as ordinary jolly person, quite famous in my friend's group, always surrounded by friends. One day in the office, Divya my friend approach me for a favor, “By mistake, I brought both the keys of my house, and my friend is locked in the house. She has an interview to attend, and can you please go and give her the keys please?” As I have a bike I couldn’t say no and got ready to go.

After reaching her house, her friend came towards the window; she was so pretty that 1st look stole my breath for a second. I always used to tease my friends who used to say “Love at first sight” but that day I experienced it. I struggled to talk to her for a while and left after the quick introduction.

Her name is Srusti. It’s been a few weeks I could not forget that look, that moment kept going on in my head all over the day. One Friday Divya invites me for a dinner party, Srusti cracked the job and planned to celebrate with close friends. I am so excited to meet Srusti, immediately controlled my emotions and said I have some plans but let me check and confirm with you by the evening.

I left the office early that day to get ready. With all excitement, I reach the hotel. Srusti is in a very pretty dress that killed me again. This time I tried to impress her as a cool dude. In the middle of the conversation, I figured out that her brother is a police inspector, and her father is a Judge. My brain immediately warned me to be careful. We enjoy the party and get back home. The whole night I could not sleep.

A few months passed, and we used to occasionally plan weekend outings and road trips with the same group of friends so that I can spend more time with Srusti and get to know her better. It took me almost a year to express my love. Later I got to know that even she likes to spend time with me. It was such a relief that the proposal was accepted without any complications. We dated for around 2 years.

I was born and brought up in Mumbai but for Srusti it’s a new city, I used to take her to beautiful places. She loves beaches so we spend a lot of time on different beaches. Those years were so exciting, and we had a lot of good memories together.

As time passed our relationship becomes mature enough. We decided to take it forward with our family. We were expecting that convincing our parents would not be so easy. I initiated the discussion in my house; My only worry was our caste difference, which may create some trouble in convincing each other parents. But being in the metro city did not impact my parents much. Even though they were not very happy about the proposal dint opposed much.

It was a great relief for both of us that now we have one side of the support. I invited Srusti to my home and introduced my parents, My mom was impressed by her behavior and my dad always wanted a daughter he got the confidence that she can fill that gap in the family. Occasionally we kept meeting for lunch and dinner outings.

On the other side, Srusti planned to go home and talk with her parents. We were expecting some trouble convincing her family as they are bit orthodox family. She planned it well and calmly opened the topic. As expected, all the family drama started. That was the tough phase for both of us. After all promises and many conditions, they finally allowed her to come back to Mumbai. I am pretty sure they kept an eye on me as well by using their influences.

We limited our visits for a few months so that they can believe in her. One day Srusti was admitted to the hospital due to heavy stomach pain, I was looking after her till her parents arrived. After a lot of diagnoses, it turns out to be a tumor in the uterus. The doctor says an immediate operation is needed. After the operation doctor announced that she may not be able to conceive in the future.

It was such shocking news for all of us. I did not want to call out our relationship for this reason because I love her the most but do not know how to handle it with my family. It was such a traumatic situation for Srusti. It took some time for us to digest the truth. As time passed, we accepted the reality.

My father called me one day and said I can understand what is going on in your mind, but rethink on the possibilities before coming to any conclusion. Now it may look like not a big deal, but as you grow old you start to feel the void because no family will be complete without kids. Take a call considering how strong you are to face all those social pressures. This conversation gave me much-needed strength at that moment.

After a year also we take the decision to get married, though her parents did not agree but this time they did not oppose much. With my parents' support, we had a registered marriage. We started living happily, as time passed shruti became like a daughter to the family by taking care of all the family responsibilities.

After 2 years we got surprising news, Doctor considers it as a miracle that Srusti is 2 months pregnant. But warns us about the complications around it and advised us to be very careful. That day I remember our conversation with my dad saying, “If you have faith in your love even god will support you with miracles”. We were blessed with such a gift, there is no word to explain our happiness.

After this news, Srusti’s mom comes to visit her. Much needed support for Srusti at that moment. Definitely, it was a tough journey for all of us with many complications many days spent in hospital; My little angel came into the world. 1st time when I saw her, she was a very tiny, as big as my palm. Her little eyes were making me realize God's gift to our pure love. After spending 2 months in hospital, we took our little angel home. 

May call it Love, light or luck today my family is completed with my little angel by God Grace.
