Love Lust and Reality

Around 8 pm on Saturday, My phone rings its call from my colleague Ramesh asking do I have any alternate contact number of Prerana. I sensed something wrong in his voice and replied No, I have only one of her number but why? what happened? anything wrong?

He replied: "She has put a photo of a cut wrist with Good Bye in her facebook story, I tried calling but her number is switched off". 

It was like a current shock for me took a while to respond, asked him to stay on line for a moment and quickly checked facebook story and said yes it looks like her hand only let me try connecting with her husband Venkat and disconnected the call.

Hell lot of thoughts started flowing in my mind while dialing to Venkat, He picks up the call and replied I was outside, just now got to know running towards home and hangs up. Here I am losing my mind, thoughts about flashback started pondering like a waterfall.

We all work at the same office, became good friends over the years. Initially we used to tease them but it turned out to be a serious relationship in few years.

Almost two year back I get a call from an unknown number asking is Venkat with me? It's his sister on call trying to find where is Venkat from last 2 days. After understanding the situation, I also started contacting few of our common friends and found that he is with one of our common friend and joined them soon. Venkat came out of his house after fighting with his dad 2 days back. His parents were against his marriage because of caste difference. We started convincing him that running away is not the solution, family is searching for you everywhere and they are very tensed right now. Go home first. Have patience give them some time to accept eventually they will agree for it. Then we all started to his home, his parents were bit relaxed and thanked us a lot. After spending some time with them we left from there.

After a month also his family got convinced and they happily married within 3 months of that incident. They treated us double party and were very happily living together.

Phone started ringing its Ramesh asking was I able to reach Prerana, I said, called venkat and he is going back home waiting for the update.

After an hour also gets a call back from Venkat saying everything is under control and she is fine now.

Uuuuffff… Bit relaxed… asked "what happened, you guy had a fight or what?", he said "she is going through depression counseling sessions are going on, I will explain you everything later" and hang up.

I updated it to Ramesh. It was a shocking experience for me. It took some time for me to get back to normal.

Next day evening Venkat called me to explain what happened.

Post marriage they moved to a new house nearby office for easy commute. Prerana fell into depression a month ago and regular counseling sessions are going on.

I asked him the reason for depression, He said as you know she is 2 years elder than me, when we were dating, she confessed to me that "she gets attracted towards girls sometimes, but I will be committed to you now on". I thought it might be some kiddish thing and neglected. It was all fine till last 6 months. After Medini (Intern at office) joining the team her behavior started changing and often arguments started at home. She felt something is abnormal with her and thinks she ruined my life. After a month also it become severe and she decided to take counselor help and it's been some time now, nowadays her mood swings a lot. I am supporting her very patiently. But now this, I don't know what to do, she is trying hard to get over and its extremely difficult for me to handle. We are completely clueless now about our future.

I don't know how to react or what to say. I simply kept on listening and just said I don't know what to say now, you guys think over hope you guys figure out something soon.

Whole experience pushed me into deep thinking; I was not able to figure out who is wrong or whose mistake it is to victimize 2 people life. Till now I dint get the concrete answer for this question.

In my view it's not either Prerana or Venkat mistake, Its purely society's mistake that it never made us realize that LGBTQ is real, it never thought us is it a feeling or reality and how to deal with it, if that was known to Prerana or Venkat they might have not been into this situation. They might have lived better life.
