She had reserved 10 beds in her hospital for free treatment of poor patients. At the age of 40 she is staying alone being unmarried. She wants to spend more times with patients and tries to forget her past. She was sitting in her cabin and the nurse came to inform her to go for the round. Everyday she goes to see all patients twice. She takes all cares to see that the patients get the best care and treatment. As the nurse had informed her got ready to go for the round. She completed all cabin patients and moved towards the special ward for the poor patients admitted for free treatment.

She reached the sixth bed and found that the patient had covered his face with the towel. She asked the nurse about the details of the patient. The nurse handed her the file saying that today the patient is been admitted and symptoms saying that suffering from malaria. Suchitra started going through the file. She was shocked and started feeling pains with anxiety while reading the name. The name of the patient was Manoj Kumar aged 42 years. She further studied it and asked the nurse if any attendant of the patient here. The reply was ,’’no and this patient was admitted by a social organization ,who had found him in the railway station.’’

Suchitra told the nurse to go to other patients and she went near to the patient and took out the towel from his face. She was surprised to find that he was nobody and only her Manoj. She could see the tears were rolling down from his eyes. She too couldn’t control her eyes and tears rolled down from her eyes too. She just asked him ,’’why? How? and what happened?’’ She wiped the tears from the eyes of Manoj and asked the nurse to shift him to the special cabin. She finished her round and by that time Manoj was shifted to the special cabin. She went to the cabin. She asked the nurse to give call to the best medicine specialist of the city. She also told the nurse that Manoj is her very close friend and needs all the best care and treatment. The nurse left the place. Suchitra pull the chair and sat near Manoj. Now both of them were alone. She took his hand in her hand and asked,’’ what happened? Where you were so many years? What happened to your business? Why didn’t you contacted me? what happened to your family and where are they? ‘’ She was getting patience less. Manoj just gave a pale look at her and still crying. As he was very weak unable to speak properly. Suchitra could understand that and told,’’ ok. First you get cured and then we will talk. But don’t leave me again and go. Now don’t think anything. Your Suchitra is here. You will be absolutely alright. I will give the best treatment to you. Please calm down. ’She called a nurse and told that 24 hours somebody should be with Manoj. Then she told Manoj,’’ let me now finish the round and will come to you. Now the doctor will come and I will be with him. Anything you need just tell the nurse; they will inform me.’’

Then Suchitra left the cabin and went to complete her round. After finishing that she went to her cabin and stood before lord Ganesh and started crying. She prayed for the betterment of Manoj. Then she sat on her chair and closed her eyes. She went to her past.

Suchitra and Manoj were in the same school. Suchitra was from a middleclass family and Manoj was from a reputed businessman’s family. Manoj was 2 years senior to Suchitra. Suchitra was very smart and very good in studies. Suchitra could remember their first meeting. She was in class 8 and Manoj was in 10. The annual function of school was on that day. After the function Suchitra was returning with one of her friends. It was around night 8 pm. Suddenly some senior students of Manoj’s class started following her and attempted to misbehave her. At that time Manoj was just passing through that way. He stopped there and argued with those guys. The even started fighting with him, but as Manoj was tall and healthy person, he faced them. Lastly, they left the place and ran away. By that time Suchitra was very much scared. After they left Manoj too started firing her saying,’’ you should not choose this way. This is very lonely place. You could have asked your parents to be with you. Any way if you both like then I can drop you in your house. Never do this again, always be careful.’’ Then he took them both and dropped them in their house. That was the first meeting Suchitra had with Manoj. She was very impressed with his behavior. Then in school they met and exchange smiles to each other.

Manoj was a good football player and he got selected for the state football junior team. He was the only student of the school. The news spread in the school. Teachers were congratulating along with other students to Manoj. Suchitra was very happy and excited for Manoj. Perhaps unknowingly she had fallen in love with Manoj. She waited at a corner of the school nearer to the bike of Manoj with bunch of flowers in her hand. As Manoj came to his bike, she went to him and congratulated him. She gave the flowers to him and said,’’ I am very happy. I wish you all the best and will pray for your success.’’ Manoj took the flowers and thanked her. Then he asked,’’ you are alone, where are your friends? How will you go? If you don’t mind, I can drop you.’’ Suchitra kept mum for a moment and then agreed. Manoj took her and dropped her in her house. That day Manoj too had some feelings for Suchitra, but couldn’t express that. Then they met several times and talked to each other.

The day Manoj was to leave for the first match of interstate tournament, Manoj waited for Suchitra and as she came, just was about to express his feelings, saw Suchitra gave a red rose to him and told,’’ all the best. I am sure you will give you’re the best.’’ Manoj looked at her eyes, which were trying to say something. Then Manoj thanked her and said,’’ I like this feeling for me. Now tell me as I am going to Kolkata, what will I brought for you?’’ Suchitra smiled and said, ’you bring your winning trophy for me. That will be the best gift for me. I always want you to grow and be successful, because I……’’ She stopped as feeling shy to complete the sentence. Then Manoj could understand and said,’’ yes, I understand. I too like you and love you.’’ Suchitra smiled and couldn’t say anything. Then she sat in back of his bike and asked Manoj to drop her. Manoj was feeling very happy and dropped her in her house. Their love story started from there. They were very happy with each other and always very caring for each other too. Manoj passed 10th examination and went to the college.

Suchitra was in school, but they were meeting in school canteen. Suchitra passed 10th with good marks and got admission in the same college where Manoj was doing his graduation. Suchitra was having the dream of becoming a doctor. Manoj was always encouraging her. Suchitra completed her 12th successfully and qualified in entrance test for M B B S. Her father with difficulty got her admitted in to the medical college. Manoj was in final year and Suchitra in 2nd year of their respective course. Suddenly Suchitra’s father expired due to heart attack. Suchitra broke down. She was very much down with her father’s demise and worried about her education. As her mother was just working in a private primary school and her two brothers are continuing their study, financially it may not be possible for her to continue. Then Manoj told her not to be worried, whatever he had earned from the game will be enough for supporting her for her study. By that time Manoj was a state level senior player and was playing for one of the best football club. He was having a very good earning from the club.

Time passed and Suchitra continued her study. She had told her mother about Manoj and Manoj too had met her. Manoj completed graduation and joined their family business. He was continuing his contract with the football club and supporting Suchitra. Suchitra completed final year and passed with gold medal. She started her houseman ship. She was concentrating on that and preparing for PG. Manoj was concentrating more in his game and left the business with his two brothers. He was giving very less time. Then Suchitra got selected for doing PG in neurology in Delhi. She has to go there. She also got the scholarship to take care of her study. She informed this to Manoj and both of them met at the railway station as Manoj was busy for his practice matches. That was the last meeting both of them had before today.

Suchitra and Manoj were having he had gone contact over mobile for about six months and after that there was no communication between them. Suchitra tried to know about Manoj, but got no information. After completing her PG she returned to her home town and started her practice, Her brothers too had finished their study and got employment in private companies. Suchitra after reaching her town enquired about Manoj from his brothers, from the club. She only could able to know that he had gone to play a big international tournament to Tamilnadu and not yet returned. The club also still searching him. The state government too lodged the F I R, but no information about him. That had given a big shock to Suchitra, but her heart was saying that her Manoj will definitely return one day. Her brothers got married and having their family, but Suchitra still waiting for Manoj and not married. Now she wanted to know all the details about his missing and his problems. She has to wait till he gets better. Now she will take care of him till the remaining years of life. She had made this hospital in memory of him giving the name ‘’ Manoj Health Care ’’.Now she controlled her emotion as the nurse informed about arrival of medicine specialist to check Manoj. She started for Manoj’s cabin.

Doctor checked Manoj and prescribe for different tests. Suchitra discussed with doctor and could understand that due to loss of protein and suspected malaria he is very weak. The treatment started. Everyday Suchitra used to stay in night with Manoj and personally takes care of his medication and diets. It took around 15 days to make Manoj stable. Suchitra was delighted as her Manoj is getting well. She forget to ask him about his problems and concentrating on his health. One day night after the dinner Manoj asked Suchitra to sit and he has to say something. Suchitra sat there and listened.

Manoj said when in Tamilnadu he had gone for the match everything was going well. His club had reached in the final. They all were excited for the final match. Before one day of the match he along with others had gone to the river for a bath. This was not known to anybody due to security reason. That was Krishna river’s branch. While taking the bath suddenly his foot slipped and before he could understand anything he started flowing with the under current. When he opened his eyes, he understood that he is in a deep forest with tribal people. The rescued him and given the treatment. He was not having any source to either communicate or inform anybody. Later he understood that the forest was the center for the sandalwood smugglers. He was scared, but helpless. He started to work under them as a wood cutter and getting the food and shelter for that. They were not paying any money. I had not given my actual identity to them. I was always in search of a way to get out of that place. Slowly I was able to gain their trust. Sometimes they send me to nearby town to get food grains and daily needs along with others as the language was a problem for me.

One day they send me along with the truck carrying sandalwood for delivering at the border of Karnataka. Some money was given to me for the emergency use if the vehicle will be caught by police. After giving the delivery ,when the others were engaged in drinking liquors , I just with God’s grace without their knowledge left that place and headed for the town. I got a bus, which was going to the Chennai. I reached there and went to the station, purchased a ticket for our city and boarded the train . That time I was having high fever. A co-passenger helped me to get down in our station and then I found myself in your hospital. I didn’t know what happened in between. I was feeling shy and also scared to show my face to you thinking , you might feel uncomfortable. I was not having any idea about your life and that this hospital is yours. Only the nurse had told me about all. Then I was feeling very sorry for you and for my life.

Manoj started crying like a child and saying,’’ I lost everything Suchitra. My dreams remained unfulfilled. I wanted to gift you all the trophies as you said, but I failed.’’ Suchitra came close to him and wiped his tears, but tears were too in her eyes and said,’’ you are selfish…I am still waiting for you. How can you think that I will have a life without you? You are the best trophy for me. Now promise me that you will never leave me alone. Now take rest. Tomorrow we will go to our house.’’

Next day morning Suchitra’s family people and Manoj’s family people came to hospital. All were very happy to see Manoj recovered. His brothers asked Suchitra’s mother, ’Aunty now let us fix a date for their marriage. We will now not let him go anywhere. He and Suchitra will be together with us.’’

Suchitra was standing in a corner and the spark of smile on her face and eyes of Manoj were saying, ’The Love Never Die’’.
