Locked down on vaccination day- 2

We have been vaccinated! Well, not quite. All that’s been done so far is that we’ve had the shot. Now we have to wait here for a half-hour to make sure that none of us have any after-effects. Well, that’s easier said than done. The after-effects include uneasiness, fainting, blood clotting, and puking. So yeah, it’s scarier than getting vaccinated.

Uncle was sitting in his chair, rocking nervously. “What if I faint? What if I lose a lot of blood from the vaccination? What if I throw up?” “Relax uncle, just sit down and read a book,” I said. “But what if I throw up on the book?” Oh boy. This is gonna be long. Like, really long.

Aunt was working on some knitting, Tamara was posting pics of her vaccination on Instagram, and Pepper was eating stuff she knew her mom would never let her eat. The triplets were playing in the play area in front of us. Now if only we could get uncle to quiet down, we would look normal.

The nurse came over to check on us. She checked each of us to make sure we were fine. Everything seemed to be going smoothly. Until she reached uncle, who was the first person. “Sir the place where you have been vaccinated seems to be bleeding. I suggest-” “Oh no, I’m gonna die,” Uncle cut her off, screaming at the top of his lungs. “Call an ambulance, get a doctor, do whatever you must!” “Sir this is a hospital. I really do not advise such behavior. It’s just a tiny dot of blood. You’ll be perfectly fine.” The nurse was clearly appalled. “But what if I bleed more? What if this ‘tiny dot of blood’ turns into a huge dot of blood? Then I’ll die!” “Calm down Percy, you’re embarrassing me,” said Aunt Maureen with a sigh. Tamara and Pepper were trying to sneak off, but aunt stopped them. “You two sit down now, you have to have this check done,” she said. “I’m sorry, but mom said not to talk to strangers,” Pepper said and ran off, Tamara right in tow. With a sigh, the nurse continued to check the others.

Once the nurse was done with her work, and we had located Tamara and Pepper, we sat for another 15 minutes. Uncle was still acting all weird, aunt couldn’t care less, and Tamara and Pepper were watching a show. I was reading a book. Boy, I hope we get home fast, by now the entire floor was looking at us like we were crazy, with uncle blubbering like a baby, and aunt looking so calm and used to this.

Once the nurse finally said we could go (she looked so relieved at the thought of us going), we got into the car and began to drive. All of us were beginning to feel sick, so we decided to stop for lunch on the way home.

We stopped at Mcdonalds. Finally, we could sit and eat someplace. The person at the door took our temperature. I was clear, so were aunt, Tamara, and Pepper. The triplets didn’t need to be checked. But uncle, oh he seemed to have picked up a massive fever. So no McDonalds for us.

We decided it was safest to just go home and heat the leftovers from last night. “I cooked pot roast before leaving, we could heat that and have it too,” Tamara said. “Uh, yeah, I’d rather eat dog food,” Pepper said. “Okay, you have dog food,” said aunt. “We’ll have Tamara’s pot roast.” Ugh. I think I’ll just join Pepper and have dog food. Tamara’s gesture was sweet, but she can’t cook.

We reached home after a lot more driving. It was 4 pm. Man, I was suddenly looking forward to that pot roast. Oh no, I think I’m facing the after-effects of the vaccine. I wonder if it’s not too late to freak out like uncle. Yeah, I think I’m gonna go with I can still freak out. Help me!
