Roller Coasters- Uncle Percy

It almost feels like this month is out to get us! First, the gym, then that night, and of course, that so-called ‘fake’ haunted house tour. And of course, yet another amazing day- the amusement park! We need to stop encouraging uncle to face his fears. We end up developing our own!

“Oh dear lord, Maureen have you not understood anything from last time? Your map is seriously outdated! We’re using the GPS this time.” Okay yeah, we need to destroy Aunt’s map. It causes wars between her and uncle, and we ALWAYS get lost when she’s navigating. Anyway, we had got out of the haunted house, but we didn’t feel like going home. It was still 11 in the morning. We decided to head to the amusement park. Uncle decided that if he couldn’t face his fears when it came to ghosts, he could at least stop being so scared of the cup carousel. So we’re probably gonna spend all day on that one ride watching uncle cry when the ride starts, and come out and fall when the ride stops because ‘it's so fast someone could throw up riding on that. It's totally unsafe!’

When we were about a mile away from the park, we hit a HUGE traffic jam. It would take half an hour to get out of that. I decided to continue with that drama I was binge-watching. After Netflix's original K-dramas, I really needed one of those cheesy dramedies to clear my head out. I pulled out my phone, my charger and my headphones and started watching.

After fifteen minutes, just when it started to get interesting, we reached the park. Oh well, I guess ‘IDOL- The Coup’ can wait, I’m gonna watch Uncle struggle to walk straight for the rest of the week. We got our entry passes and tickets at the counter, rented a stroller for the triplets and headed in. I’m already shivering. Poor uncle looks like he’s gonna pass out.

The inside was chaos. Not that we weren’t any less. It was just super crowded. Instantly everyone was in a hurry to do what they wanted. Pepper wanted to ride the Ferris wheel, Tamara wanted the roller coaster, I wanted the Kamikaze, and Aunt just wanted peace. Once she got us all to settle down we decided to start with the flying elephants, the triplet’s favorite. I don’t get it thought. They’re three. They need a stroller. Yet they get to ride the rides I wasn’t allowed on when I was 5. I guess that’s what being the favorite kid is.

Once the triplets were done and Uncle was awake again. We headed to the carousel. Not the one uncle was afraid of. We’re saving that for the end. Then we’ll drop him off at the hospital emergency room and head home.

We tried our best to get uncle on the carousel, but no. The only rides he intended to go on today were the bigger ones he was normally too scared to look at. So Pepper went ahead and wasted half our tickets going round and round and round, over and over and over again, listening to little kid music all the while. We can do that at home. I wonder why she chose to do it here.

After convincing Pepper that it was a sane idea to get off the ride, we did a few more things before the roller coaster. I’m glad lunch wasn’t one of them. Or else we’d be banned from the amusement park for life. Uncle walked up bravely, ready to ride the roller coaster, and conquer at least one fear today. But by the time we sat down in the cart, he was already having second thoughts. “You know you guys should really go on without me,” he said, stuttering. “It's not a good idea for me to be going on kiddie rides. I’ll just sit back and watch you guys have fun.” “Oh toughen up Uncle,” Tamara said. “You need to face your fears!” I suddenly regret offering to sit next to uncle during the ride.

The roller coaster started slowly. Uncle was already shivering and holding onto the guard rail for dear life. I wonder who’s gonna tell him there’s a loop in here. Oh well, it's not gonna be me. I’m just as clueless as him!

The cart reached the top and stopped. Uncle panicked. “Oh no, we’re stuck here!” All of a sudden, the car tilted forward, and we were off! I was having the time of my life. Uncle, however, had been screaming his head off. “I wanna get off!” Then came the one and only loop. “At this point uncle was too scared to even scream. He just sat there, white in the face, looking like he was gonna throw up.

Once the ride finally ended, it took all of us to get uncle off. I think it's time to go home before something really serious ends up happening. And I may need to throw this dress out.
