Sindhu and Shyam were a lovely couple in their early seventies. They had been married for a long time roughly say about 40 years. Have three Children err grown up, middle aged Two sons and a daughter who were well settled and Comfortable in their own lives. Sindhu and Shyam were considered to be a lovely couple who were much in love even at this age and time. They were recognised as a successful couple who had completed all their family responsibilities and we're even proud grandparents of lovely grand children . But, now the Story takes a strange and funny turn. Sindhu and Shyam approach a young lawyer who was famous as a lawyer who gets couples divorced easily. He was known to have done this job perfectly well for so many years in his City. So, Shyam and Sindhu approach him with a request to make it happen to them as well.

The minute Varun( Young divorce Lawyer) heard about this proposal he was stunned. He was wonderful as to why such an elderly and a traditional couple would take such a drastic step. But, being a lawyer he had to do his job. He approved the meeting at 11 Am on the coming Monday. As per the schedule the Couple arrive at his Office. After the initial introduction and other formalities when Varun broached the topic of their divorce both started a string of complaints about each other in a loud voice. In between with bickering amongst themselves. Varun asked them to keep quiet and maintain the decorum of the meeting to which they both nodded in silence and together. Varun was feeling so funny on hearing their complaints against each other.

As the saying goes ladies first, Sindhu started her banter with the complaint that Shyam would always control her on all aspects including what television programs she has to watch. She narrated how he keeps watching only news and sports throughout the day including weather reports of the entire day. She even continued complaining about how he needs to be served everything near the television where he relaxed on a rocking chair watching even the Cricket matches with so much thrill and excitement as if he is a young teenager. She chides him referring to the goggles and cap he wears while watching the cricket matches which was so comical to Varun. He had to control laughing. In retaliation Shyam started narrating as to how Sindhu would watch boring and repetitive sitcoms that would not give her a little bit of knowledge about anything under the Sun. He even sneered at her saying she was trying to imitate the characters from the sitcoms and she would go to any length to look and act like them. This was a very funny remark that made Varun chuckle uncontrollably. He recalled how his parents argue about these topics in the same way.

Shyam then started talking about the recipes she picks up from the cooking shows on television and how she forces him to relish those dishes that are simply horrible. This remark irritated Sindhu and they started an argument amongst themselves ignoring even Varun's request to keep quiet. After listening to these arguments that seemed to be silly and simple Varun advises them to rethink about their divorce plan for all the obvious reasons. He reminds them about their children and grandchildren to which both of them unanimously declare that their children don't bother about their likes and choices. They pronounce that they are free to do whatever is okay for them. Varun pauses for sometime and makes a suggestion that he would get their divorce granted after Two months and until then he advises them to stay in different rooms in their house. He asks them to stop talking to each other.

He asks Shyam to do outside work like getting groceries and veggies while Sindhu would do the cooking etc. He asks her to stop serving him as Shyam's complaint was that Sindhu was adding a lot of salt in dishes and if he served for himself this would prevent this from happening. . So, finally it was decided that both of them that is the couple will stay separated in the same house for about two months and then if things did not work they would be granted divorce any way.     The couple seemed unhappy at this suggestion, they go out of the Room and grumble about the same.

Varun got busy with his work. He sometimes wondered what might have changed between the elderly couple who seemed divorce . Would they resolve their issues and live amicably? Or would they turn up with the same request after their two month pact would be completed? With a smile on his lips he wondered.

After a month or so Varun had gone to a departmental stores to get groceries for himself. Suddenly he over heard voices that were grumbling about something and about each other . Those voices seemed familiar. Yes, he guessed it right. They were none other than the elderly, divorce seeking couple. He was surprised to find both of them discussing about what to buy and so on. He observed each of them getting things that was liked by either of them. Example the lady brought a loaf of bread that was his favourite according to her. He picked up a jar of pickles and shouted out to her informing her about the same

. The whole thing appeared so true and the couple were so caring towards one another even though they appeared to be at logger heads with each other. Yes thought Varun let this couple live together forever, he thought and took both of them aside and started to discuss about their divorce plans. Again they were squabbling and blaming each other. Now, Varun interrupted them and said "listen both of you since you did not follow my suggestion of staying away from each other in the same residence, you seemed to disregard my suggestion so, now I am making another suggestion that you both stay together and separate for another, 6months in the same house and if things don't work out whether it is about television, cooking, sharing work or the way you lead your day to day life you will be granted divorce I promise you that". Listening to this both of them collected their groceries etc. Paid the bill, waved bye to Varun and walked away still arguing about silly things but with love in their heart for each other which was reflected in their eyes.      Varun was happy that he stalled their divorce plans which he feels will never happen and the couple would spend their life together come what may happily. He was happy that he had done a noble job
