Dear Diary,

Today is 3rd day of lockdown. Everyone is working from home. But the life of doctors and police has really become too hectic. Today I would like to share with you the lockdown stories of lockup people. I mean what impact does Covid19 have brought in the life of police fraternity.

Sitting on his chair sub-inspector Dhananjay says to his fellow constable "What is this Saroja Devi, after working from past 7hrs we don't have the privilege of having a cup of hot tea. Because of this lockdown, all hotels are closed all chaiwalas have locked their dabbas. Aah! My head is aching. "

Constable Saroja: Yes sir you are right. Even that chotu tapriwala is not there. But you don't worry sir, I have brought chai in my thermos.

(Pouring the hot tea in the paper cup, she handover the cup to the officer. Constable Shambhu Linga enters, smelling the aroma of tea.)

Constable Shambhu Linga: Madam what bad have I done to you? Why aren't you offering me a cup of tea...?

Constable Saroja: Oh Linganna, how can I forget about you? Here it is.

She offers her fresh hot cup of tea.

SI Dhananjay: Saroja tea is A1.

(While the trio is having tea, telephone bell rings.)

"Yes, Paras badi police station" (listening to the person on another side, constable Shambhu Linga continues) "Don't worry, we are coming to K-street, right? Coming immediately."

SI Dhananjay: What happened Linganna?

"Sir, we need to rush immediately. People near K- street are making a nuisance. Going triple riding, simply roaming around and arguing with traffic police."

SI Dhananjay: Come on let's move. Come on Saroja let's go. Take that sanitizer n hot flask with you."

Constable Saroja: Yes sir.

(At K-street 3 people are found to be arguing with traffic police.)

(SI Dhananjay enters gives the trouble makers nicely and makes them apologize to the traffic police)

SI Dhananjay: Linganna wipe the cane with a sanitizer, we can't hit people without sanitizing the cane. Who knows who is the carrier of the corona.

(Linganna wipes all canes with a sanitizer, meanwhile, another person comes on Pulsar.)

Constable Shambhu Linga: Sir one more prince arrived.

Constable Saroja: Sir please leave this to me. I will handle it.

Stopping the young lad Saroja narrates Shloka, seizes his bike and drags him towards the Jeep. Picking the Pooja materials kept in a jeep. Which was purchased early in the morning for home.

Linganna records the video and shares it in the WhatsApp University. After the continuous 2hrs vigilance, they head towards the police station.

(At the police station every one washes their hands with paper soap and sit on their respective places fully tired.)

Constable Shambhu Linga: Sarojamma 1cup tea Amma.

Constable Saroja: Definitely Linganna.

(Offers tea to Constable Shambhu Linga)

Constable Saroja: Sir, sir? do you want a cup of tea?

SI Dhananjay: hmmm. Yes.

Saroja offering tea asks the inspector, "What happened sir, where are you lost? What are you thinking?"

SI Dhananjay: Saroja Pinky was so sweet to know, she used to talk like my daughter Aadhya. You know what every night before going to sleep she asks me to tell a story. Only when I narrate the story through video call then only she sleeps.

Constable Saroja: You can go and meet them know sir? They are staying in the next street only know?

Constable Shambhu Linga: No sir's family is in Rammeshwaram.

Constable Saroja: Sir, then you are alone here?

What about your food sir?

SI Dhananjay: I m a vegetarian surviving on Maggi, Puliogere, and curd rice.

Constable Saroja Whispers to Linganna

"I feel so dad for our sir. This bloody Carona has ruined the lives of all people. No matter king or mason all are dancing to the tunes of Corona."

SI Dhananjay: What's going on.

Constable Linganna: nothing sir, nothing.

Constable Saroja: Sir, can I leave a bit early. If I leave by 5.30 pm by the time I reach home it will be 8 pm.

SI Dhananjay: Why now there is no traffic you should reach home early.

Constable Saroja: Yes sir but, all my neighboring villages have raised fences at the border. To protect themselves and their families from Corona so that no outsiders get in and no villagers go out. So, now I need to take the way to woods to reach my home. By the time I reach home my kids will be off to sleep and my mother in law will give me taunts. " No lady becomes a mother by just delivering the kids, she should feed her, breed her, watch them carefully stay with them, then only she is worth to be called real mother."

SI Dhananjay: Still your mother in law's behavior is like this only? All the villagers have become wise except these city people and your mother in law.

(Laughs sattirely)

Constable Saroja: No sir, I have seen a new face of her after this Corona outbreak. She does all the household chores without disturbing me. She prepares 3 times meals for me and my kids. She even packs my tiffin box She is the one who gave me this thermos full of tea. She said, " All the tea shops will be closed, your work has become hectic, you will need tea. So take this thermos. In this tea will be hot for almost around 7 hours." Saroja continued with a voice filled with love and pain, Sir, she will be waiting for me, until I reach she won't have dinner. She is 70+ In the absence of my husband I should take care of her but she indeed has become my support system. It is because of her this orphan, this widow is able to manage, 2 kids, work and home in this crisis. She indeed is my mother sir.

SI Dhananjay: ok ok. You can leave now.

(Constable Saroja leaves with a smile thanking SI. When she is about to start her Enfield, SI Dhananjay speaks to her,)

"Saroja, convey my thanks to your mother in law I mean to your mother. And tell her to make more tea for me. It was too good."

Constable Shambhu Linga: For me too.

Saroja nodes her head with a smile and rides home. SI and Constables are back to their work.

(It's 5.30 pm, the second shift officers and inspectors come to the station.)

Constable Linganna handovering a hack of peanuts to the SI busy in files says, "Sir, take these peanuts, sir. Sorry sir, I can't offer you more. I don't have anything else. Sir why don't you go to home n have some meals. It's 5.30 the second shift people have come. "

SI Dhananjay: When no one is at home what to do there? It's better I stay here and look after some work.

Constable Shambhu Linga: Sir you might be missing your wife n kids know sir?

SI Dhananjay: Yes. But what to do. That's life. But why are you still here?... You have a newly wedded wife waiting for you. Go.

Constable Shambhu Linga: No sir. I will also stay here with you.

SI Dhananjay: But why? Your wife is here to and spends time with her.

Constable Shambhu Linga: No sir, my parents went to a village for chariot festival and they remained there with my uncle after the lockdown. And here my mother in law is with us helping my wife. Forget about touching her, my mother in law not even allows me to go near to my wife. She says for more than 10 hrs you are outside amongst so many people, I don't want to risk my daughter's life. Hmmm! Taking a big sigh he continues, " She is right also. But ..., Anyway it's our fate. My wife sleeps in bed, I sleep outside in the courtyard and my mother sleeps in the middle of the hall. So that neither I can get in nor my wife can come out. This is the month of Chaitra (Spring) but because of this Corona, the Rona of newlywed couples like us is that it appears to be Aashada.(hot dry season).

SI Dhananjay: Don't worry it is just a temporary pause. Everything will be alright. Everything will be back to normal soon.

Both see in the eyes of each other for while silently and resume back to their work.
