GRANDPARENTS GALATA

Anu sighed. What a lovely day Saturday was. No school… No homework and only play. But Anu felt there was something else her family had planned for the weekend. Then she remembered. Her grandparents were coming to stay with her in the weekend. All four of them. Oh no! Anu liked her grandparents, but sometimes they were a little annoying. Mutthacha always worried about whether whatever Anu was doing was safe. Ammamma always worried about whether whatever Anu was doing or eating was good for her. Avva always wanted Anu to eat things and said she was too thin.

And Thatha was just always sleeping.

“Anu, your grandparents have come”, said Amma. After Anu said hi to her grandparents, she went to her room. As soon as she left, her grandparents started talking to her parents. “Naina, you have grown so thin. Come, eat some mixture I brought”, said Avva. Appa grumbled but went anyway, because he loved Avva’s mixture. “Choma, why are you letting Anu play much in the sun?”,

asked Ammamma. Amma just rolled her eyes. That night, Avva cooked dinner. The reason she pestered everyone to eat food was that she loved to cook. She made something like twenty dishes for dinner, but everyone loved her cooking.

The next morning, Anu went down to play…Well Anu went down to play after she got a lecture on how to stay away from the sun from Ammamma and how to be careful and not fall from Mutthacha.

In the afternoon, Anu had nothing to do. She was dying of boredom. Only Thatha was in the house. Luckily, he was awake and was watching the news on TV. “Thatha, can we play treasure hunt”. asked

Anu. “Ok”. said Thatha. But before they could begin, he was out cold.

Anu’s grandparents left in the night. The next day, Anu went to play very early because no one lectured her. But none of her friends were keen on playing at 8 o’ clock in the morning. Anu missed the lectures she got. In the afternoon, she was bored but there was no one she could observe sleeping. Anu missed Thatha sleeping. And in the night, there were only four dishes for dinner, not twenty. Anu missed Avva’s cooking. She decided that grandparents are a bit annoying, but it’s nice to have them around.
