Mitali Sharma, a 31-year-old chubby girl who was turning 32 very soon, believed that one should live their life to its best! She had achieved everything late in her life! She completed her high school at 19, graduated at 22, did her post-graduation at 26 and started earning her living at the age of 28. Yes! Mitali was a super ambitious girl but some unavoidable reasons made her achieve her goals late. Amongst her group of 7 friends, she was the last one to start with her job. While Mitali had just begun working, 4 of her friends had switched to their second company and 2 of them had received an increment! This did make her sad, but it didn't let her dreams shatter!

Everyone knew the outer story, but no one bothered to open up the book! Well, I'm saying so, because Mitali was many times made fun of her chubby figure and late achievements. No one actually made an effort to know the real story, because it was far behind their thinking! Yes! Mitali was absolutely perfect in every other way, but one thing that left her incomplete was her disability to speak! Yes! Mitali couldn't speak. She had this disability since she was 12. An accident took her voice away! But this didn't let the brave girl give up on her life. She didn't even join a special school! Like other kids, she completed her schooling from a normal school, graduated from a normal college and joined a job that didn't require talking! Yes, Mitali joined a company as a content writer wherein she was required to present her writing skills and not verbal aptitude! She performed her job to her best and everyone around her was happy, she never thought about her disability and led a normal life, until one day.

Mitali was 32 and her mom like others was worried about her marriage. "Already she's 31, moreover she's chubby and top of that her disability of not speaking!", who'll marry her? Her mom said to her dad.

"Look, till now our daughter has fought every obstacle with ease, and she'll do the same this time also! You don't worry, everything will be fine!", her dad said and both slept.

A few weeks later, a marriage proposal came for Mitali. They were rich people who were looking for a suitable bride for their 32-year-old and came across Mitali's matrimonial advertisement. They then visited the family.

Amit, the prospective groom was a 5 feet' 9 inches tall lad while his physique was quite opposite to the girl. He was of a normal physique.

"We came across your daughter's ad. I found her a perfect match for our son and so decided to visit you. Can we see the girl?", Amit's dad questioned.

"Yes of course!" , Mitali's mom said with utmost excitement and accompanied Mitali to the living room.

She was dressed in a saree that made her look a little fatter than she was, but this didn't bother Amit!

"Humari taraf se rishta pakka samjhiye"! were Amit's mom's words as she saw Mitali. And before Mitali's dad could question any further, her mom interrupted, "Humari taraf se bhi!".

Match had been made. But Mitali's dad wasn't convinced as for not even a single minute the family talked or inquired about Mitali's disability. But then he waived the topic in the name of thinking too much.

Wedding preparations had begun. Seeing Mitali in a wedding attire was her mom's last wish that was completed that day! Anybody could notice how much elated Mrs. Sharma was!

Mitali and Amit's wedding took place in a huge ceremony. All the rituals were done and she then left for her new home, leaving behind tears in her parent's eyes!

Everything went on smoothly until when Mrs. Kapoor, Amit's mom, asked Mitali to quit her job!

"Look Mitali, I know this is shocking but we now want you to focus on the household chores. You can join the job after some time, but this work can't be postponed know!", her Mom said in a sweet voice.

To her mother in law's reply, Mitali just waived her head and approved. They then shared a hug.

Mitali had now quit her job. She now paid attention to her household chores.

6 months passed. Everything had now started changing. Her in-law's attitude towards her, her husband's feelings towards her, everything was taking a different turn!

The promises that were made during the wedding suddenly started vanishing!

True colors of Kapoor family were now revealed! They had started treating Mitali as a toy! A toy to which you may hurt numerous times and it won't harm you back!

For some days, Mitali bared all this. She bared the physical torture that was done to her. A year of her marriage had now passed. But nothing appeared as beautiful to her as she had thought her married life would look like! Amit had started drinking and all his anger was out on Mitali. She even handled this.

But not for very long.

Mitali was a girl who believed in inequality. And when it came to her being molested by her own family member and thrown out of the house, she couldn't handle that! She had decided that she'll fight for her rights.

She looked for every medium that could help her but in vain. Nobody could understand what she was trying to convey and as a result, refused to help! But as it is said, when one door closes, another opens up! This time came to her rescue were her 6 Friends! Remember those 6 who were a part of her girl gang? Yes! They came to help her! Apart from her parents, who could understand Mitali's actions were her friends. She narrated the whole of the incidence to her 6 friends who pledged to get her justice!

Soon 7 of them, along with Mr. and Mrs. Sharma went marched a protest! Yes, it was a Silent protest! A protest that made everyone who refused to give justice to Mitali, realize that SILENCE HAS A SOUND TOO! A sound that can be enough to cover the sound of a hundred crackers! During the whole of the march, what the flashcards showed were incidents of Mitali's pain, what she had gone through, how her justice was denied and the sufferings of her!

Nobody shouted "Justice for Mitali" in the march, what they did was marching silently with the cards in their hands! And this did fetch results! Everyone now started realizing how Mitali would've felt when somebody made fun of her dumbness! How she would've felt when her justice was delayed! Soon the whole of the city along with Mitali's classmates, office colleagues and relatives joined the 9 of them in the protest. Her sound was this time heard! Yes, the authorities after looking into the matter got hold of the culprits and sentenced them to spend a good amount of years in jail!

Mitali that day felt the happiest!

A 31-YEAR OLD GIRL WHO COULDN'T SPEAK, THAT DAY MADE EVERYONE HEAR HER SOUND OF SILENCE!
