Where Love Walked Away Softly

Where Love Walked Away Softly

A soft smile stayed on her lips as the train slipped out of sight.
Through the window, her eyes found mine, a thousand trembling words glistening bright.
Around us, horns and voices clattered.
Yet only silence deeply chattered.
Two lovers learning not to feel sorry,
As love lives on at times only as a memory.

Before this farewell, three days of unbroken wordless nights;
Two weary hearts circling the same wounds, ending in fights
Fighting for "us," the whispers echo.
Away from these walls, create a life fresco.

She stood firm; I stood tied.

But my love was all in silence…

For she hadn’t married just me; she had married a house
where women were asked to fold their dreams,
For their ambitions sang “too loud",
Where futures belonged only to men

I watched the girl, who thought these claims were insane.

I still loved her and loved her in silence.

Between endless chores and taunts indeed,
Her dreams breathed softly and grew with speed.
In a home where growth was forbidden.

She dared to step into a world of stereotypes ridden.

Until one day, when taunts turned sharp and cruelty spilled over,
She finally declared war!
My father spoke calm, cold truth:
“Give up your dreams… or leave and go afar.”
So she picked up her books and walked away
Steady, quiet, unbroken.
And I once again was silent, failing the words to be spoken.

That silence dragged me back
to the first time we met that night ….
Fire wrapped in grace, standing steady to fight the right…
I loved her in that moment, long before fate tied our name

Now, watching her walk toward the life
she was always meant to claim,
I finally understand
the distance was necessary, but I stood by her…
By letting her go, by opening the door.
She was born to fly through with soar.

And in the end,
her freedom became the only vow worth keeping in silence—
And maybe, just maybe,
one step forward and two steps back, without a shrive;
Will keep our quiet love eternally alive.
