Espionage

Espionage

One day, you will show up out of the blue

And my heart will skip a beat or two

Would you promise to never leave again?

Or would you take me along on your next escapade?

What would it take for you to disappear off the face of the earth, someone asked me once

I'm sure of the answer now, it would take only a couple of words from you and I would take the plunge

When I reach the end of the abyss and you would shine the light

There could not be another sun or moon to make the rest of the trail bright

Until then I confine myself to this world, my hiding place

Discovering your essence in unlikely spots,

waiting to follow you, an espionage

Vowing to avenge the insult inflicted on the honor of a hopeless heart

I fail over and over again when the truth looms large

How many tales of betrayal before the yearning stops me from perishing?

A different identity you choose for a different time, another girl becomes your newfound destiny

Into a chasm I fall now or maybe you pushed me?

Howling and disturbing sounds accompany my downward journey

The deeper I delve, the more I find what you were to your previous conquests, and to me

In the end, I hit rock bottom, lifeless among other dead, watching you heave a sigh of relief
