The war was over

She waited for him

Holding her nine month

old son, a picture image

of him.


One by one the soldiers

disembarked

Looking for their familiar

loved ones

He was the last to step

down

Resting on crutches

face down

She called.

He didn't respond.

She felt ignored.


Was it because he

doubted the son 

was not of his loin?
