The Invincible Veteran
The Invincible Veteran
Draped in white from cap-a-pie,
An incarnation of peace and content,
Mahatma was he, who was born
To make the nation independent.
Black clouds blanketed South Africa,
And racism was the only sight;
Gandhi endorsed the Blacks throughout,
And outdid Apartheid with all his might.
Proposed Swaraj and Swadeshi
As the doctrine to be followed,
But the movements mustn't deviate
From the non-violence road.
Non-cooperation and Civil Disobedience,
The struggle was tough and tiring.
Nevertheless, he stood still and stubborn
To succeed without guns and firing.
In the Quit India movement,
He proposed, "Do or Die",
Aimed for India to be a golden bird
That could claim the sky.
A true leader was he,
With a true spirit of patriotism,
His blood was enraged for freedom
Without any care for criticism.
The valor he arose amongst people
Said to shed the blood of bravery,
"Let the British be dethroned,
Let Indians fight against slavery".
Jailed, rejected, and humiliated
But never filled with despair,
The soul was strong and the heart stout
That spread nationalism like wildfire.
Let his footprints be followed,
And his deeds be directed,
Let's awake the Mahatma in us
For his dreams to be done and dusted.
