Screams
Screams
The screams kept reverberating
Thundering, those heart-wrenching cries,
Within the confines of the ghetto walls
As they stood in lines, men and women and children alike
Some sniffling in silence, others trying to restrain,
Protest, unsuccessfully, fruitlessly,
While they were being dragged
To be penalized for a crime, they never committed.
They knew their faith had been sealed, and that,
Not even a miracle may come their way
Rescuing them out of some grave consequences.
Families are heartlessly broken, as they wished
Precious belongings, which had been once
Cherished for a lifetime, now scattered all across
The deadly silent streets. They whimpered,
They implored, they requested, they revolted,
Yet, each had to, at last, relent to the heartless
Criminals of humanity.
And those who were shot, on their way
To the worst of the hells, had been the luckiest,
For they had escaped the scorching pits of
An inhuman abomination, of years of
Gut-wrenching torture,
Of trauma, so colossal, so cavernous.
A few brave souls, yet survived
All of those years which had put
Humanity to shame. The offenders of humanity
Till the end attempted to justify
Their heartlessness, the tyranny, the absolute cruelty,
Yet, downfall did await them. Justice
Was not served, would never be, for,
The demonic callousness would never be accounted for.
Those ghettos, they still shudder with
Some tormenting screams of the past.
