Her Love For Me

I remember crying for three days straight 

And not being able to stomach anything I ate 

Grief pouring out from every part of my body 

And the worst part of all, she didn't even seem sorry 

I'm talking, of course, about the incident 

Of my senior dog not being able to control herself 

At the sight of a baby kitten I had brought home 

He was tiny and adorable and he loved me like one of my own 

But today she showed me a different side

As the new kitten came and tried to hide 

I was afraid she would do the same thing again 

And my new love story would come to an untimely end 

As she lunged forward I leapt in the middle 

With my heartbeat racing, shaking a little 

But she surprised me by giving him a gentle lick 

I immortalized the moment with a hasty click 

And so I learned something I didn't know before 

My dog may hate kittens, but she loves me more
