Spread Your Wings
Spread Your Wings
They told her to spread her wings and fly
From the moment she came to life
And then they clipped her wings bit by bit
And made fun of her as she had to sit
They told her to not let anything stop her from soaring
And that all of her excuses were boring
But what can a bird do with broken wings
But sit and cry, or sit and sing
They told her that the sky is the limit
And that this world was brighter with her in it
And they told her that her wings were fine
And that she'd get used to them in time
They told her she was perfectly okay
All she had to do was desire to play
But her wings hurt every time she moved
And by this sorrow she was consumed
They told her to spread her wings and fly
But she knew she could die if she tried
And so she made peace with life on the ground
And that's when the sad tale began to turn around
