Drama Of Lotus And Rose

Blessed is the rose thought the lotus:

How her soils are manured and watered;

How she chooses to grow only on higher altitudes;

How her stem protects her with thorns;

How she blooms with velvet texture;

How everyone instantly falls for her;

The lotus just lets a deep sigh…

Look at me, how messy and tangled my stems are;

How dirty and stinky my mud is;

No one ever cared about me;

How hard it was to take my first breath;

What a struggle it was just to see the sunlight; 

On a holy festive occasion,

The lotus ends up with roses at the same sales counter;

With so much wonder, lotus says how lucky you are!

The rose replied: I don’t care I am just one among thousands!

See, I ended up just in the same counter as you!

Do you even know how rare and hard for my kind to reach here?

Asked the lotus!

So, you have put a greater effort to reach here;

But most of us end up here only and I am not proud of my efforts…

Answered the rose grumpily!

Lotus looks at rose spellbound thinking:

How can’t this rose feel how privileged and special she is!

Then she contemplates in retrospect:

Indeed, her basic necessity is my unbelievable luxury,

Her privileges are my dreams,

Her normal routine is my special privilege!
