Caged
Caged
Lonely she was,
Deprived, disillusioned and devoid;
Of the rights which she had
But of which she never knew.
A girl, she was;
The bearer of life.
Yet bereaved of her desires and dreams,
Looked down upon by the so-called Patriarchal Society.
She dreamt of books and wished to write,
But no, how could she
It would make her less eligible to become a bride.
She had no right to dream,
For she was a girl;
The bearer of life,
Whose own life was not hers'.
