Across The Room
Across The Room
Turning and tossing from side to side,
I check the time;
It's almost midnight.
All the doors are seal closed,
I drop out of bed to check once more,
With no hint of sleep.
I turn on the music,
Can't choose which song to tune into,
I let the radio decide.
Though, the songs play cluttery;
I buy it as a glitch of technicality,
Until the lyrics start playing in reverse...
Scared,
I turn the radio off,
As I turn away the radio plays again,
Only now, with voices hoarser;
And the lyrics floating haphazardly.
I rush to the door,
But it's jammed -
"Maybe, because of the monsoons,"
My logical self asserts.
Taking me back to the
Concepts of humidity,
Class 8th Physics.
The whole scientific
Trail of thought breaks
Just when I hear,
Muffled laughs
From the living room.
"But I live alone!"
My logical self asserts, again.
Suddenly, the room falls silent;
I grab the handle of the door,
And pull it as hard as I can,
Failing to get the door open.
"Pull the latch down, silly."
From behind,
Exclaims the radio.
