A Rejuvenating Getaway

A Rejuvenating Getaway

The lights started to seep their way in,

Life suddenly took on a new meaning.

Aloof we were from the world’s din,

As it felt like we were surreally dreaming.

Whilst watching the glorious day begin,

It was evident that Nature was beaming.

The vibes here hadn’t been experienced before,

A fleeting sight of the migratory lark

Coupled with summer's saccharine breeze does elicit more

Rejuvenation and less consternation of the dark -

For life’s given bountiful resources to adore,

It’s up to us to decide its worth and hallmark.

The palm trees and a windy clime,

Provide an aura worthy of zestful praise.

The clocktower nearby approves with a chime,

Making us forget about any trifling malaise -

Savoring the aesthetics becomes a pastime,

Nothing is so unwinding as these holidays.

The aroma that pervades the air

Is queerly mesmerizing yet enigmatic -

Is it but Nature’s devious flair

To entangle me into a fantasy so emphatic,

That I grow oblivious of any hitherto despair?

Accentuating that life’s not monochromatic.

The gleaming waves of the sea do beguile

Us into surmising that it’s not deep,

No semblance of any marine creature hostile -

The cliffs in the proximity are sheer and steep,

O’erlooking the ebbing tides yonder a mile -

Standing tall like guardians without any sleep.

Occasionally, a hawker would halt

To entice my wife with wares on display -

From conch shells to figurines of salt,

Then she’d decline politely albeit with delay

Dejected, he would nevertheless exalt

That, someone, didn’t turn him down right away.

The sky o’erhead’s tranquil and serene,

Flawless and pristine as if newly contrived;

Mirroring utopia on world’s biggest screen -

A subtle warning against getting deprived

Of this temporary solace and a pleasing scene -

A dire need for our withering landscape to be revived.

Nature’s the best therapist out there,

Patient with us since primeval ages -

It’s foolish to scar it beyond repair,

Irrevocably tarnishing its beauty in stages -

We ought to undertake steps for its care,

Or brace ourselves for devastation when it rages.
