Helpless Mother

She was a caring mother of her baby ,

She was truly helpless , 

a labourer and illiterate , from tribal ,

Very innocent she was ,

she was feeding her baby in a bus ,

traveling back to home .

Irony is that she had covered baby ,

With a pallu of her sari ,

A baby with not a single piece of cloth

In that cold weather ,

She was full of dignity and self respect .

Though I offered her my dupatta ,

to cover her baby ,

But it was not acceptable to her ,

She politely refused ,

" No I have to get down as such "

Though she was helpless ,

But still she was rich in her ego .

Bus stopped at next village and ,

she got down holding her baby ,

Covered under her sari' s Pallu ,

But she left her image with me ,

An unforgettable experience ,

She touched my heart & emotions ,

She made me think & feel strongly .

How to call her a helpless mother ,

She had protected her child , 

With her very warm feelings and affection

That was all there in her sari's Pallu .....
