#Teacher's Day

I was studying non-medical from Govt. Shamsher Sineor Secondary School at a small beautiful town in Himachal Pradesh, Nahan. My school was the best school of the town with caring teachers and a great learning atmosphere. As we entered our 12th standard, for the first time Information Technology was introduced as an elective subject for the students of all streams. Now along with Physics, Chemistry and Methematics, one more subject was added in syllabus and that was Information Technology.

Along with that a new teacher was also appointed in the school to teach IT. The name of that gentleman was Mr. Rakesh Kakkar. He was a genius in his subject. Initially he started with the basics of IT and gradually he explored all other necessary aspects in great detail like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Paint, Perepheral Devices, Printers, Programming Languages and much more. He used to say very boldly, "Students, Information Technology is the future of this world and one day entire human existence is going to depend on IT only." I was in 12th standard many years ago but his statement has actually become the truth of 2022. What a visionary scholor he was.

He used to individually concentrate on each and every student of the class and before finishing his lecture in a day, he always ensured that no doubt is left in the mind of his students.

I remember the day when I was about to appear in my final 12th standard board examination and it was my Information Technology paper. According to the time table we were having holidays for preperation but we were very nervous. There is always some kind of fear associated with board examination as the paper evaluaters are not the teachers of your own school.

Mr. Kakkar knew about this fear of ours. Out of concern, one day he called all of us in his computer lab and said, "If I ask few questions, will you be able to answer?". We said,"Yes Sir, why not!". Then he immediately started asking questions back to back. We answered all the questions perfectly. After that he made us do some practicals on computer and we performed that also very perfectly. After few hours of session, he called all of us and said, " All of you did very well and I am assured that your knowledge is perfect. So why are you fearing board examination?". We stood quite without saying a word.

After few minutes he said, "Actually it is the fear of some different teacher checking your answer sheets in some different institution and nothing else. Always remember students, I am not going to be your teacher throughout your life. One day you will join some college and your teachers will change. Later you will be in job and you will meet your new boss who will control all your activities. Nothing remains constant. If you are having good knowledge of your subjects, than doesn't matter who has prepared the question paper and who will check the question paper, you will always score best.

So just study your subjects thoroughly and no situation will be difficult in your life. Knowledge is everything."

That day his words acted like a guiding principle not only for us but for entire human race. We became highly confident in our hearts and prepared to study as hard as we could. Few months after the examination, the results were declared and fortunately we all scored really well.

This was Mr. Rakesh Kakkar. He not just taught us, but he did everything to ensure that we become self confident professionals in future. Hat's off to such great teachers who are the real pillars of education.
