Mr Rakesh Pundir, my mathematics teacher in 10th standard, is a real genius and a kind-hearted human being. He taught us for three years, class 8th,9th & 10th. He was a highly concerned teacher and tried his best to teach mathematics in the best possible manner to his students. His focus was not just on students scoring good in his subjects, but he wanted all his students to learn mathematics from heat and make it a part of their life. He always searched for a practical outlook among students. The best part is, he always used to say to his students," If your younger brother or sister, or any of your juniors in the school, ever come with a mathematical problem with you, never dishearten them by saying that you are busy and you have no time. The more you teach your juniors, the more your own skills will sharpen up."

And he was absolutely correct. He was very strict with those students who did not follow discipline. Sometimes he use to thrash the students severely also but it was for the benefit of the students only. I must say that whosoever got thrashing my Mr Rakesh Pundir, that person has started respecting him more. And we all knew this thing that if Mr Rakesh Pundir has beaten us, definitely it is our mistake. And then we used to rectify that mistake and tried our best never to give Mr Pundir a second chance to beat us. We used to respect him so much. They were a family of 3 people-husband, a wife and a sweet little daughter.

He was also our teacher. Going back home from the office, he used to teach us tuition of mathematics at his home. Such was his passion for teaching mathematics that he never felt tired of teaching consistently. One batch after another, but the enthusiasm of Mr Pundir was always up. Along with the subject concepts he also used to motivate us to plan our future in a proper way. he always told us that we should take up one passion in our life and follow it wholeheartedly, that is the only mantra for success. How true he was?

But tuition classes at his home were a fun activity. He was so emotionally attached to his students that on tree birthdays of any of his family members, he used to throw a grand party only for his students at his home. That day, from morning till evening, his school students enjoyed cake, pastries, cold drink and much more. Students were free to enjoy themselves in their own way and standing at the corner, he used to smile with a feeling of deep satisfaction on his face as if his students are his own children. He used to fondly call me,"pandey jee". He had a sweet little daughter by the name "Sippi". Whenever I and my batch mates arrived at his home for tuition classes, looking at me, she used to say, "Papa, Pandey jee aa gaya", and all my classmates used to burst into laughter. Such a sweet little girl.

He was a person who was a firm believer in the philosophy that recreational activities are extremely essential for students. Therefore he use to organize many tours for students to Shimla, Manali, Chandigarh and many other beautiful places. He himself used to go with the students and took personal care of all the necessary arrangements. He motivated students to explore the place as much as they can and return back to school, he used to organize a short session where students can share their individual experiences of that place. This activity was of course a fun activity for students but Mr Pundir's plan was different in organizing this activity. He wanted to remove stage fear from the minds of students at a small age. He strongly believed in this theory that, "today's small kids are the working professionals of tomorrow and we need to groom their personalities right now. Only then, growing up, they will become great professionals."

A thorough gentleman, a true leader and a genuine teacher, I am falling short of words to express the greatness of such a kind hearten teacher. He devoted his entire life to the welfare of his students with only one constant dream, that he could see his students working as great professionals in their respective fields. I am really blessed that once in my life, I got sincere blessings from such a great personality, Mr Rakesh Pundir.
