I was in 9th standard living with my family in a beautiful hill town of Himachal Pradesh, Nahan. My father was a government employee and we used to live in a government quarter. Being a forest area, my house was surrounded with green grass and trees. Truly my house was and its surroundings were heaven on earth. I was a very naught boy, always busy in playing games and never concentrating on my studies. And the best part is I was not a small child but a 1st Semester B.Tech, Computer Science Student. My college was juts at a distance of half an hour from my house. Being a professional college students my life was not like other hard working students of my batch. They used to live in hostel and were more responsible than me. After returning from college, they used to wash their cloths, prepare dinner, clean their room, study the books and then went for sleep. I was the most careless boy, busy playing online games all the times.

As I mentioned, during rainy season, green grasses used to grow taller around my house. My father arranges a workman to cut the overgrown grasses. His name was Dharam Singh. He use to work tirelessly cutting the grasses. Sometimes he even used to slip from the slope as the ground became slippery due to rain. Since it was a rainy season, while cutting that jungle, many times he encountered poisonous snake. It was really a tough situation.

One day I said to him, "Uncle, why do you work so hard."

Very politely he said, " This is my work & I feed my family because of this. The more hard I wory, more will be my income & more better life I will be able to give to my family".

I was just shocked. This man whao has never seen any school in his lifetime, he just gave me the biggest lesson of life.

That day I took an oath that I will try to prove myself best in studies & bring honour to my mom & dad. That day I realised that life's true lessons you will never find in books. They are around you. You just need that vision to realise those lessons.
