Dr.Himanshu Monga was Head of Department (HOD), Electronics & Communication at ITT College of Engineering at a beautiful town in Himachal Pradesh in District Sirmour. A highly intelligent personality, he used to teach us very thoroughly. Once I asked him, "Sir what is the best way of qualifying the examination?". He said, "Never cram any subject. Study the books thoroughly & understand the process behind everything. Engineering is all about technologies & machinaries which actually exist in real life. To operate those machinaries, their real working procedure must by known thoroughly. And cramming the book is never going to give you that knowledge."

He always wanted us to read books as much as we can & spend our most of the free time in library. He also taught us another very crucial subject in our second semester, "Science, Technology & Society". In this subject he used to practically explain us that how can we make use of our technical knowledge to bring new innovations which can transform people's life in a better way. 

Whenever any student did not perform well, he used to pay extra attention to that student. He used to involve that student in lab experiments more & more, used to take class tests more & more & always wanted his students to work in collaboration.

Once we were in practical room performing experiments. Dr.Himanshu Monga was closely examining us whether we were doing experiments properly or not. Suddenly we felt that we are facing some difficulty. Mr. Himanshu Monga thoroughly explained us the experiment & solved our problem. After that he went to Principal's office for some important official work. Now we were all alone. 

As we performed another experiment, once again we were stuck at a place. Since our HOD was in important meeting, we had to wait. Suddenly we decided that, "Let us continue with the experiment carefully. If there is any severe difficulty, we will just stop & wait for Sir." Saying this we started experimenting & also helping out each other as we faced any issues. To our surprise we were able to finish all the experiments successfully.

When Dr.Himanshu came, very happily we told him, "Sir we are done with the experiments successfully". He examined the results & was very happy. He praised us enough & said, "Dear students, after completing your engineering, you will be entering practical job market. Only two things will help you over there; your own knowledge & your ability to work as a team. Because using your own brain makes you more knowledgeable & discussing matters with teammates makes you wise.

I went out of this room just to check how systematically you people collaborate with each other in difficult situation. Well done!"

It's been 15 years I completed my engineering, but the lesson I learnt that day, it is still making my professional life innovative & progressive. It's a divine blessing that I completed my graduation under guidance of a great Professor,
