To Eat Owl Or Dove At The Christmas Holiday

To Eat Owl Or Dove At The Christmas Holiday

My friend and I were searching for a place to celebrate the Christmas holiday by being not hungry. Our pockets were empty to pay to victuals, as the usual, and we should wend to the city to get remnants of foods then we would be okay to be satisfied on that day. The best thing would be glorifying Jesus Christ at his birth. That was last year’s memory.

Now it is 2021, to be rewind again as of the other passed years which were for us but not gave their gift of life as of the other lucky persons. Today has no new trend of living but similar as of the last years, and with more years of the past. All were destinies, but we all are alive still now, the poor and the wealthy, and we know that we all have a point of the day and time to pass someday in the future, the worst thing may be after the death; the coming penalty of our soul if we could not paid our due which had lied up on us due to our sin.

Last year we were planned to celebrate this years’ Christmas better than the past one. We know we both were not equally acknowledged with the eyes of this world but we have had an agreed fact which made us be an intimate friend on the lives’ of the verge. We both came from different corners of the country with different backgrounds of cultural and ritual communities but we acquired a resemblance on the streets of Addis Ababa due to our life’s style and challenges.

I love to eat the cooked or roasted flesh of hen and beef, and he too. But we almost ignored the test of these foods due to the longer time span of years after we ate those foods. Everywhere you see hens and beef in the supermarket and butchery houses, peoples have been eating alone or together dining there in the restaurant or in their home, but we couldn’t due to our poverty. As a chance, if we get it in the remnants we might have the test before swallowing.

Last year on Christmas day, we planned to roast or cook a hen near the place on which we used to live. And according to our plan, we shall save money for the coming day to prepare for it or simply to buy from the restaurant if we can pay a high amount of it. For this purpose, we started to accomplish our holiday food mission by saving money, but we both were unable to do the saving because we disburse all the acquired cents in the mid night by smoking more cigarettes due to the coldness of the temperature. In the morning we use the remaining cents to pay for breakfast if it deserves to buy it. Therefore we couldn’t save the money to buy the hen and other ingredients like olive oil, chili powder, peeper, salt. Actually, salt is not expensive we could get it by begging from one family house.

It is near now to accept the coming Christmas day, to the fact, there are days to be lagged from the European and Gregorian Calendar here. We will celebrate it after seven days of lagging between the USA and European citizens. I hope some friend of mine would send his Christmas day celebrity dim lights and remnants of foods within those seven days to me and my friend which may be usable on the street life here to my place. When I am thinking about all this, my friend came to me and called me to talk with him about the thing I worried about.

“How you think? I want to celebrate the Christmas holiday beautifully at this place, I want to eat hen which is cooled by me. We couldn’t collect the amount to buy from the market and we have no dishes, pans, and other cooking materials.” He said to me just as he stood in front of me. And I said that,

“We are unable to buy the required hen within the remaining days so that we have to beg coins beside the streets of Addis Ababa if we get. But I will be afraid if people stare at me while I do begging.”

“Why?” he asked me.

“Often people are not aware of the inner problems of us, they might not see misery in their life, and they have been delighted always and lived a comforting life in their homes. I and You are always singing the song of poverty. We are not disabled to do a job and to get a salary but protected due to the recruitment system and the ignorance of the government. Who trusts us to drop a coin on our begging attire?” I asked him.

“So, what you think? Do we need to rob from others?” he asked me.

“For the sought of God’s son's birthday celebration, is it well to do a sin?” I asked him.

“No, let’s change the hen with birds.” He said.

“How?”

“ We don’t have to worry about the amount of buying a hen it is costly and we have to search birds to roast or cook, then to eat at the x-mass day.

“ Is there any kind of bird to be eaten as a hen? Do you know?” I asked him.

“ Yes, Guineafowl, dove….”

I disturbed his talk “what!!? Is your appetite ready to eat a fowl or a dove?”

“Yes, ‘ he said.

“What it tests?”

“To me and you, it will be awesome.” He replied.

And we reach an agreement to find doves or fowls from their nest to catch. Then I started to prepare a Sling.

The next Christmas holiday is coming after five days to be celebrated. I started to hit and make them stumbling with a pebble or other small stone of the sling. I hope the flesh of owls and doves will be so easy to be eaten with a high level of test full quality around my sleeping area.
