The Unpopular Fairy Tale

Raisha was a vibrant, cheerful teenage girl. She used to be the friendliest girl in her group of friends. Due to her friendliness, everyone used to like her a lot. One day, she met Ishan, a mysterious guy through social media. The guy seemed to be very introverted and shy, very different from her. The guy seemed very mysterious but had very good conversational skills. He could talk deeply on certain things. His depth of thoughts and shy mysterious nature made Raisha fall in love with him. It was her first love of teenage. As she fell in love with the guy, she felt like she was the happiest and luckiest person in the world. Her young adolescent years started seeming more vibrant and colorful. She not only fell in love with Ishan but also her love for him made her fall in love with love songs, dance, nature, and even life in a new way. She felt like as if she was experiencing a new spring and a new season of love in her life because of his presence in her life.

Slowly and slowly, she fell so much in love with him that Ishan's presence in her life started determining whether she could be happy or not. She slowly and unconsciously started tying the meaning of happiness in her life to Ishan's presence. She felt like she had found the prince Charming of her life and started weaving a fairy tale in her mind on how she would live her life with her prince Charming 'Ishan'. She felt that without Ishan in her life, her life would become an empty, void space. She felt that she wouldn't be happy in her life if Ishan leaves her life. All these random thoughts made the idea of losing Ishan scarier to her. So, she never wanted to lose Ishan from her life as she felt her life would be nothing without him. And in the fear of losing him, she started holding onto him tighter so that he doesn't slip away. But, it's known that no matter how tightly you hold onto a person, if they want to go, they will leave. And the same happened to her. One day, Ishan left her for another girl.

She was shocked and astonished. She felt like she couldn't be happy like before as Ishan left her life. The entire fairy tale about their future that she weaved in her mind just came to an end in a few minutes. She couldn't believe the reality. She couldn't believe her mind. She felt like as if she was seeing a bad dream in her sleep. It took her months to accept the fact that Ishan had never loved her. Had he loved her, he would have never betrayed her for another girl. She couldn't sleep and eat properly for months. She lost track of her daily routine and lost focus on all of her work due to the intense emotional pain that she experienced. She started hating everything related to love - her favorite love songs, the sunsets, the nature, and even herself for falling in love with the 'wrong person'. She felt broken and depressed for months. She felt like she could never be the same happier as she was when she had fallen in love with Ishan. But, she had nothing to do except letting Ishan go and accepting the fact that he never loved her. Slowly and gradually, as she accepted the truth, she started recovering from the pain and depression.

Slowly, she came back to her normal life and started focusing on her work and herself. Slowly and gradually as she got involved in new hobbies, meeting new people, and gaining new experiences, her emotions and pain got blurred. Although she never forgot the incident fully, but now, the thought of that experience could no more make her feel depressed. Now, she could listen to love songs again without crying or remembering the old memories. She no more hated the sunsets and music for her bad experience. She started falling in love with her life and herself once again and this time without her prince Charming 'Ishan'. She again became happy and cheerful as before. She again started loving to dance on the rhythms of her favorite love songs without them making her recall her bitter past. She was again the happy girl as before.

It is then that she realized that life goes on irrespective of what keeps happening around us. Also, she realized that she was happy at the time of falling in love with Ishan, not because of 'Ishan's presence' but because that happiness was there inside her. And so, she is still happy without Ishan in her life because it's all within her and not because of Ishan. She understood that happiness is a state of mind. Happiness doesn't depend on the circumstances of our life but depends on in which state our mind is. She was surprised by the fact that the person without whom she used to think that she will never remain happy, she is still happy even after that person left her life. She now understood the true meaning of happiness. Happiness is a state of mind. Sometimes we attach our happiness to certain circumstances or people or things thinking that we will only be happy under that circumstance or only by the presence of those people or things, but that's not true. Life goes on in its own way, and slowly with time, we learn to enjoy life and become happy even with the absence of those things which once seemed to be the 'most precious' blessings of our life.

It was then that Raisha understood that the fairy tale she weaved in her mind will not remain inexperienced just because her prince Charming is no more a part of it. She can still weave her fairytale life the way she wants as she is the creator and protagonist of her life. She realized that a fairy tale doesn't remain unfinished just because of the absence of a prince in it. From then on, she herself was the fairy and princess of her life who never again searched for a prince Charming. She herself became too busy in building her fairy castle. And many years later, one day, she did succeed in living the fairy tale life she always wanted to live. She proved that not every fairy tale needs a prince....sometimes, the princess has to love herself enough to build her castle for herself without wasting time on waiting for the prince.
