Dhanush, an eight-year-old boy, had just lost his father because of a car crash. He had already lost his mother in his early childhood. His stepmother, Bhumika, had a six-year-old boy, Revanth. She developed animosity towards Dhanush as the latter was now a responsibility of hers. She poured her abundant love on her own child, whereas Dhanush was devoid of her love. Motivating children and feeding them with positive thoughts is imperative for their overall growth as childhood is a process wherein their brain gets slowly developed.

On a Sunday morning, the blue sky allowed clouds to move from one place to another. The sun appeared to monitor the movement of clouds to ensure it directs its rays towards the earth. Dhanush had been lying on the mat since Saturday evening. Bhumika glanced at Dhanush, who was sleeping peacefully. Anger surged through her body, demanding her to disrupt the poor child’s sleep. Without giving a second thought, she poured a bucket of cold water over the little boy, which jerked him awake.

“Wake up! You loser. You are born to be a failure in life. My child Revanth will be a superstar one day.” Bhumika planned to feed the little child’s brain with negative thoughts.

Bhumika compelled Dhanush to do household chores, whereas Revanth had the privilege to study. She had told the boy that he was unfit to have an education and will have to spend his entire life doing household chores. Day by day Revanth turned into an angry boy. He used to come back from school donning a solemn face and would hurl his socks and shoes towards Dhanush. Poor Dhanush had to clean the shoes and wash the socks. The laughing portrait of his father had been a witness to the cruelty meted out to him. To make matters worse, Bhumika kept on reiterating that he was a born loser and was fit for nothing. Poor boy entertained those negative thoughts to create a negative pattern in the subconscious.

I am incapable of having an education. I am not born to enjoy or succeed. Revanth can do any work, as he is my superior. I am fit only to do household chores and have no rights or freedom to dream big in life. I should spend my entire life being another’s slave. God has picked me from a loser’s pot, so I am destined to be a loser. The plethora of negative thoughts found an inlet into Dhanush’s mind which secretly made his subconscious dormant and ill. Bhumika strongly believed Dhanush would end up being a loser.

The festival of lights brewed in the country, letting everyone float in the ocean of joy and peace. Bhumika bought crackers for her child. She decorated the house with candles and flowers. Dusk took control to let lights explode in the nook and corner of the country. People lighted candles everywhere and the sound of the crackers reached a crescendo. People peppered the blue sky with colorful rockets. The beautiful sight brought smiles to million faces. It seemed even the sky was enjoying to display the colorful lights on its screen. Revanth was on cloud nine, enjoying every bit of his time. Standing by the side of the door, Dhanush’s eyes absorbed the colorful lights dancing around him. Bhumika’s glary eyes darted to the poor boy. She couldn’t accept the smile generated on the boy’s face. She scurried towards him and held the collar and pushed him inside before locking the door from outside. Revanth, who was watching the scene, smirked. Bhumika then resumed her celebration with her angry son. Dhanush peeked through the window to see his neighbors deeply involved in the celebration.

Ten years passed in a blink of an eye. Dhanush used to go to school when his father was alive, but since the latter’s demise, he wasn’t allowed to go to school. He was a bright student, capable of learning new things quickly. His thirst for learning never lost steam. When everyone hit slumber, he used to fish out books from the bookshelf and read them to satisfy his learning cravings. He had developed fervor towards acting as well. He became pretty adept at emoting his feelings in front of the mirror. Dhanush used to do all these tasks at night time to escape from his stepmother’s wrath. He always lacked confidence because of the negative pattern imprinted on his subconscious courtesy of Bhumika’s demotivating words. Revanth had transformed into an angry young man. The word patience was absent in his dictionary. He always let his anger do the bulk of the talking. Even his mother was not spared from his anger. Recently, he picked up a fight with his class teacher that led to his suspension from the school. He appeared in the board exam like a hero but turned into a zero when the result got announced. He had flunked in all subjects. It seemed like his wrath was working in cahoots with his subconscious.

On a cold Friday evening, Revanth sat on a sofa watching a movie. The coldness clung to his skin, allowing his subconscious to react.

“Hey, beggar Dhanush! Get me my sweater,” he screamed.

Dhanush pulled out a sweater from his wardrobe and held out the same at him. Dhanush snatched the sweater and wore it.

“My mother says I am a future superstar. She also said you are a future beggar,” he laughed. “Why don’t we testify to that now?”

Dhanush stood with silence prevailing around. Revanth lost his cool; he picked the flower pot kept on the table and smashed it on the floor with the splinters of the pot strewn around.

“How dare you disrespect your boss?” he gritted his teeth like a villain.

“I am sorry. I will follow your orders.”

“Learn to respect your boss, you bloody beggar,” he blurted.

Dhanush nodded his head in affirmation.

“Now you came to my fort like a slave,” he said in a condescending tone.

“Superstar Revanth is a box office king, fading star Dhanush is his slave,” his dialogue looked funny and was unworthy of applause. He over stiffened his body, thinking it would look good, but it was proved otherwise.

Dhanush sized up the situation well. “Attitude determines if a man is a superstar or a flop star.”

Revanth got provoked, unable to digest Dhanush’s brilliant acting skills. Inadvertently, he stepped his foot back, and the splinters pierced his foot mercilessly. He screamed, letting his lungs come out of his mouth. Dhanush quickly ran to a room and came back with a first aid box.

“Your acting is just an aberration,” Revanth said.

“I loved your acting skills,” Dhanush responded.

Revanth’s countenance churned out a gloating expression despite the pain his foot ate.

One night when everyone was asleep, Dhanush picked up a new book titled, “The Subconscious Power” As he set in motion reading the book, his interest level surged. The author had explained the nuances of the subconscious mind simply and understandably. Dhanush’s mind got so much engrossed in the contents of the book, it refused to generate melatonin hormones to put him to sleep. After reading the book, he felt some divine energy surging through his body as if it was transporting the incredible power to him. The book helped him to decipher the reason for his low self-esteem. His stepmother poured negative words over his brain, creating a negative pattern in his subconscious. Now, he realized he could revive his dormant subconscious, making it his powerful force, and subsequently, positive results would follow. He also realized he can transcend the barriers of normalcy and tap into his inner genius. The Subconscious accepts the thought generated by the conscious mind with no string attached. In other words, it is subservient to the conscious mind. We can refine our conscious mind to resuscitate our subconscious to beget wonders in this world. The book enlightened Dhanush to let his mind feed on positive thoughts to churn out desired results.

On a Monday morning, Bhumika and her son were busy chatting together. A pigeon that had perched over a windowsill was staring at them as if it was listening to their useless conversation. Rays of sun bathed its feathers, and the bird looked colorful. Dhanush, who was oozing with confidence, decided to share the knowledge he gathered over the book he read last night with them.

“Do you know we can hold the strings of our mind?” he said.

“Slaves are not teachers to give lectures,” Revanth fumed.

“I want to share something with you guys,”

“You can share it with your kitchen dishes. They direly need you,” Bhumika laughed.

“You tie up the loose ends in your brain,” Revanth laughed. “Don’t spy into our deep conversation.”

“But…”

“Stop your drama, you uneducated brute! I told you right, you are a loser,” Bhumika shouted.

“No one is a loser. It is just the bullshit we have fed to our brain.”

Revanth hurled a pillow across his face. “Get lost!”

“Didn’t you hear my son?“ she said. “My son is always a superstar and following his orders is your job.”

Dhanush believed these idiots had only printed angriness in their subconscious. Maybe the wherewithal they possess is making them act this way. When they jostle into actual pain, maybe they will cease their wrath and concentrate more on strengthening their subconscious, which indirectly shapes the character of a person. They have slackened their grip on life by letting the ego king inside them manifest out. Once the ego gets a serious beating, they will tighten their grip on life. Dhanush applied the methods mentioned in the book in his real life, too. Slowly, he could make out the tangible results going his way. He enhanced his acting skills and a few opportunities came to his doorstep.

Dhanush turned up for an audition round. Despite having inexperience in attending such events, he gave his best but was eliminated at the end. These times allow our mind to generate negative thoughts that would accept the failure and give up. Dhanush did not give in to such negative forces. He didn’t look despondent. The book he read had changed the very perspective of his life. The methods he had applied in his life refused to subside. Never be bereft of hope when you meet with failures in life. He strongly believed in himself and was sure he would grab a chance to act in movies in the days to come. He revisited the book again to further his mental skills to create a productive subconscious that would not budge from the failures but, in contrast, develop from failures.

Dhanush confronted rejections boldly and he never gives up attitude won him a chance to perform in another audition round. He took a deep breath and said to his subconscious,

“You are a winner. I am sure you will help me nail my performance today. You are the reason I am standing confidently here. I want you to unleash the positive force that I have fed you with all these months. I will go deep into the character and will come out with all guns blazing. You make that happen. I am not born to be a loser in life. I can accomplish all my dreams. You are going to make that happen.”

He peppered his subconscious with a barrage of positive thoughts that weaved together to create positive energy within him. He was now performing brilliantly, bereft of stress and anxiety. His confidence and skill flourished in front of the judges, who looked at him spellbound. His acting prowess manufactured goosebumps in the audience’s hands. They couldn’t keep their eyes off him, such was his masterpiece performance. He indeed ignited the stage on fire with his incredible skill. He received a standing ovation from the audience and the judges. Eventually, he won the competition, which paved the way for acting opportunities in the movies. He gave his all in the sets and his first movie itself was a blockbuster hit. Bhumika and Revanth were in for a shock. The guy who they called as their slave had become a superstar in his very first film. Revanth thought he would be the superstar one day, but his enemy had won that coveted tag. Bhumika couldn’t believe her ears as she always bathed Dhanush with her negative words. They spent sleepless nights unable to come to terms with the bitter reality.

Dhanush won a film fair award for the best actor category. People all over the world lauded his acting skills. Many compared him to the legendary actors all over the world. Such was his acting prowess. He acted in few more movies that shattered all box office records. He had now become a demigod in India. In one of the grand events, he shared his experience with the world.

“I had grown up embracing negativity. I always thought I would be a loser. I had zero confidence and courage. Then I stumbled upon a book called ‘The Subconscious Power’. This praiseworthy book changed my life forever. I learned about the power of our subconscious mind. More and more we feed our conscious mind with negativity, the same flows into our subconscious. If that happens, our inner genius will never unfold. We can indirectly groom our subconscious mind by feeding our conscious mind with positivity. I kept believing in myself despite facing rejections. Whatever happens in life happens for our own good. There will be a turning point in everyone’s life. In my life, this book was indeed the turning point,” he waved the book at the fans, who roared in acknowledgment.

“Life presents us with innumerable challenges. Many of us run away from those gifted challenges because we are prone to anxiety, fear, stress and other negativities. If we keep on feeding our brain with such thoughts, we are indeed going to be a failure in life. Face the adversities head on. Never back away because you know what you are capable of. Your talent must flourish on the grand stage. The world must witness your magic. Tap into the realms of your inner genius and come out with wonders.”

The audience depicted their love for his speech by giving him a standing ovation. His speech gripped Bhumika and Revanth, who looked at each other with silence, taking their mind over.

The negative pattern imprinted on our subconscious is the main reason for not having realized our inner genius. We shall open the door for positive thoughts and close the door for negative thoughts to ensure a positive pattern to be created in our subconscious, which will make us tap into our inner genius to reach greater heights in life. Never underestimate your qualities, because many are oblivious to the hidden genius lurking within them. Only you can; I repeat, only you can manifest that inner genius. Do not spend your entire life being a victim of anxiety, stress, inferiority complex, and other insecurities. Life comes only once. Learn to pepper it with joy, peace, passion, and courage.
