The Nonsensical Escapades Of Raya and Demi
The Nonsensical Escapades Of Raya and Demi
Raya wanted to open a pet emporium.
Months of begging and pleading had her mother yield and consent to her buying a snake, and six year old Raya had made up her mind that she wanted to own a pet shop just like Mrs. Patil who lived across her house. Raya assured herself that this new found passion of herding furry buddies was not because of Harry Potter's snowy white owl or because of her glamorous and shiny new snake, Demi (who was not named after a singer, Raya persuaded her mother, it was the singer that was named after Demi.)
She rolled around the grass and beckoned for Demi to clamber up Raya's thin spidery arm and the red and occur reptile hissed in approval before it slithered across the trimmed blades of green sprouts and slighted upon her outstretched hands. Raya cooed earning disgusted looks from many passer by-s who scurried away with the speed and agility of an Olympic athlete. Raya giggled and murmured to Demi about the stupid-ness of adults.
Six year old Raya had trouble with forming sentences.
Demi was very heavy and Mother had made Raya promise to not leave Mrs. Patil's house while they were away but promises meant nothing to her in the tempting offer of freedom. She and Demi had run away through the open window( they could have left through the front door while Mrs. Patil talked on the landline in the other room but Raya wanted an adventure and the only way to have an adventure was to jump out of open windows and run across roads with a 7 foot snake trailing excitedly behind the kid who was screaming bloody murder.)
It would have been quite a spectacle if a lawyer driving a Porsche hadn't called the police.
The police didn't catch them. There was too much traffic in Mumbai and they had caught a couple in the Garden just then.
If Raya knew how slimly she had escaped the attention of authorities, she would have built an altar for the worship of teen couples.
"They bring tremendous luck" she would have said.
Then Raya had continued to run across the street every one hour until a rumor started circulating in social media about a dancing ghost and a singing snake, her mother and father had unfortunately caught sight of the said rumor; they had to abandon their lunch date and sprint across to their car, ready to catch their daughter red handed.
If only they knew the luck that they inadvertently given to their daughter by the snake, Raya had miraculously reached Mrs. Patil's front porch just as Mother and Father's car pulled into the garage.
Raya sighed tucking Demi into her collar a huge grin unfurled on her sweaty face.
If this was the amount of fun she could have while owning a pet, there was nothing that could stop Raya and Demi from opening a pet emporium.
I know this is bad stuff. But I love the idea of having a snake(I reread the HP series again)
Oh yes, I did pick the first cover that popped up
