The Haunted Forest

Dharun is an aspiring visual artist from Valparai of Coimbatore district. He dreams to become a visual effects designer in the film industry of Malayalam, at first.

However, he is sent out by the already settled Visual artists, since he is new to the field. Henceforth, he decides to seek into Tamil industry. 

After several failed attempts to work as an assistant to several visual designers, one man named P.S.Raju agrees to train him, but poses him a condition.

P.S.Raju had been informed by several of his friends about a Reserved and dense rainforests, located near to the Athirapally waterfalls of Kerala.

Many people claim the place to be dangerous and feared to enter into it(including the forest officials and police officers).

A few officers asked for a bold and active youngster to enter into the forest, so that something can be investigated about the forest and it's activities.

Henceforth, P.S.Raju asks Dharun to fulfill this mission as he is a bold guy and can solve this issue quickly.

As he wanted his dreams to get fulfilled successfully, Dharun agrees to accomplish this risky mission.

With the prior permission from a few forest range officers, Dharun decides to enter into that forest. 

Besides himself, Dharun convinces few of his friends like: Vishnu, Charan, his lover Dharini and Rithik.(who too have dreams to admire adventurous moments). However, he have not tell them anything about the dangers, that were rumored to be present in the forest. 

The forest officer Ram drops them into the entrance of the forest.

"Guys. Be careful and all the best. Accomplish this mission successfully" said Ram to which, they agrees.

As they place their leg into the forest, the dry leaves starts to fly around, trees starts to move here and there. Heavy winds blow around the forest.

After a few minutes, the whole place turns darker.

"Dharun. Shall we enter into the forest?" asked Rithik.

"Yes da. Let's go into the forest" said Dharini.

As they proceeds to go into the forest, Charan becomes scared and shows some sort of tensions through his facial expressions.

Noting this, Dharun asks, "Hey. Why are you feared this much da?"

"I feel terrified da. Everything is dark in this place. Should we have to take risk?" Asked Charan.

Dharun replies, "In order to get our dreams fulfilled, we have to take this risk da. Nothing is easier in this world. We have to strive and work harder."

Charan gets convinced and as they proceeds to move into the forest, Vishnu sees a venomous snake, fissing with poison. Besides this, it tried to bite him and surrounds his neck.

 

Frightened a lot, he shouts for help and Rithik asks him, "Hey. What happened da?"

"Hey. A venomous snake was fissing with poison in my neck da" said Vishnu.

However, nothing was there in his neck and Rithik scolds him for pranking.

While moving on to the forest, Rithik sees a big poisonous spider besides his leg and terribly shouts out of fear.

"Hey. What happened Rithik?" asked Dharun.

"Hey. A Spider was there besides my leg da. Quite big and poisonous" said Rithik.

On seeing it, Charan tells him, "Look that closely da. That's not spider. It's Leech. In forests and water-based areas, these are common. Come faster."

While going, Vishnu tells Rithik, "I already told you right. Something is frishy in this forest."

As they were proceeding through the forest, Dharun and Dharini notices an abandoned palace(being surrounded by pigeons and dusts).

"Hey Dharun. Shall we stay in this Palace for one day?" asked Rithik.

Since, Dharun himself have become tired and restless, he agrees and they decides to take shelter in the villa.

However, while entering the villa, Dharun suddenly stops. Since, a big spider was hanging in the entrance.

Seeing that spider, Rithik becomes terrific and he starts to sweat, due to fear.

While going into the Palace, Vishnu sees the venomous snake in a glass box. He recognizes that, this was the snake, which tried to bite him by surrounding his neck.

Recalling about this, both Vishnu and Rithik feels terrible and feared. The next day, even Charan, Dharun and Dharini noted some paranormal activities in the Palace.

They see non-veg like Fish, Mutton and Chicken being cooked by someone and in further, they notes a few newcomers in the palace.

Dharun starts to suspect something frishy in the forest and henceforth, he takes the visuals of the Palace and forest through his LVD Lens camera.

He sends the images to P.S.Raju and Ram. Impressed, Ram further asks the group to investigate further happenings in and around the place.

Slowly, the forestry sides of palace turns darker and lights go off in the rooms of all four. At this point of time, Dharini notices a foul and rotten smell of a dead horse.

She fearfully, goes to see the location of the dead horse. However, she accidentally enters into a storeroom. There, she sees a few traditional knife, weapon and a precious gold ornament, which shines a lot.

Meanwhile, Dharun searches for Dharini with his friends. Eventually they enter into the showroom and meets her.

"Hey Dharini. Where all should we search you? Are you here only? asked Dharun.

"Yes Dharun. I was here only. See this gold ornament once, da" said Dharini, showing it to her friends and Dharun.

"This looks precious" said Rithik.

"But, why is it shining?" asked Charan.

"That's an old gold ornament. It was used during the periods of Tamil rulers(Namely Chera, Chola and Pandyas). They believe it to be their god. Hence, it shines a lot" said Dharun.

Except Dharun, when all others touched the ornament, they immediately takes their hands, unable to bear the current shock, produced by the ornament.

In addition, these five encounters a evil spirit besides them, in a horse. Feared, all runs away. Dharun alone comes late by taking a photo of that ghost and ornaments.

However, as the five proceeds to escape from the forests, they sees the snake and spider, chasing them.

That evil spirit, now catches those five and controls the venomous snake and spider to his orders.

"Who are you? Why have you catched us?" asked Dharun.

"First, who are you all? Why did you come to this forest, besides being told to be reserved and dangerous?" asked the spirit.

"Because, we ought to knew the dangers present in the forest" said the five.

"Please spare us. We wanted to escape from this place" said Vishnu.

"That's impossible. Until I order you, you can never exit. You will knew why am I saying this, when you enter intk the villa again" said the spirit.

All the five are again thrown into the same Palace. At that time, Dharun notices a king's photo in the terrace and takes it.

Behind his photo, he notices a number 0-0, written in a different handwriting style.

Confused, he asks Dharini. Being a trained chess player, she tells him that, "It's the symbol used to represent the king in the chess name."

"I think, the spirit which we have met is a king" said Dharun.

"How could you say like such, da?"asked Rithik.

"His style of speaking and way of handling us. This makes me to think, whether he is a king" said Dharun.

The friends decides to search more about him in the house. While searching every room, they eventually comes across an old sculptured book, written in palm leaves.

Dharun starts to read it. (Story now goes back to 16th century)

The told spirit's name is Rathnaswamy Nair- I. He was the king of Athirapally empire(the then area under Madras presidency).

The place was rich with good water resources, lots of wildlife and forest resources. Because of these things, several other Indian dynasty and foreign people(consisting of Chinese, Muslim rulers and British empire) felt jealous.

Since, this place is rich in copper and bauxite resources, some Chinese intends to grab it, from the place. Henceforth, to enter into the place, they seeks the help of a few Indian dynasty.

They all decides to held a war with Rathnaswamy Nair I. Sensing the war, he performs rituals and prayers with the precious gold ornament in front of Lord Shiva.

In further Nair requests Lord Shiva, "The resources in these places should not be exploited by anyone. It must be fiercely protected by this ornament. When any strangers come to destruct the environmental condition of this forest, this ornament should react as such to protect this land."

 

In further, this ornament can be touched only by a powerful and bold natured man. If rest others touch, they would get shock transmissions.

Knowing that, he can't win the war due to his deteriorating health, he have made like this.

Besides the deteriorating health, Nair fights the army of Indian Dynasty and Chinese fiercely and eventually defeated them. However, in final, Chinese emerged victorious. Since, Nair starts to lose his control and they brutally finished him off.

However, since he have performed rituals to protect the land, everyone of them gets killed by Nair's spirit, the venomous Snake and spider.

Since then, they killed those, who tried to enter these forests with wrong intention to destroy the natural resources. 

Upon reading the book at present, the friends feel guilty and in further, tries to escape from the forest at any cost.

Before that, Dharun accidentally touches the gold ornament. It henceforth, goes back to it's old duties to protect the forest.(At first, when he touched, it lost it's power).

Dharun saves Dharini from the snake(which was about to bite her) and they all seeks an exit from the forest. Before that, Dharun takes his LVD Camera.

They escapes from the forest and manages to reach the entrance, while the darker side of the sky slowly changes into blue.

A few days later, Dharun submits a few visual photos, that he took from the forest and submits it to P.S.Raju.

On seeing the photos, he is impressed.

"Well done, Dharun. I expected these kinds of photos only" said P.S.Raju.

"Sir. I thought that, you have sent us for doing investigation" said Dharun.

"No Dharun. I have been working for an upcoming film, titled as Haunted forest. For that, I wished to have some darker visual locations and a few terrifying images. Hence, I sent you, due to your bold and brave nature" said P.S.Raju.

"Sir. Then those rumors?" asked Dharun. 

"That's all a fake one pa. I told it in order to convince you to enter into the forest. Even Ram knows about my plans" said P.S.Raju.

Dharun smiles and tells himself that, "The stories, which they framed up have been seen by him and his friends, in their real life."
