CO-ED KILLER

                                            

NOTE: This story is based on Author’s fiction. It doesn’t apply to any historical references or real-life incidents. In this story for a slight change, I will narrate in the position of Adithya like he confessed to the police.

APRIL 20, 2025

COIMBATORE, TAMILNADU

At midnight a phone call came to the police control room. The person who spoke in that phone, said: “Sir. I knew where is the co-ed killer whom you were searching for a long time.” 

The police were shocked and asked him, “Who are you? Where are you, now? The person who spoke in that phone told to the police: “The brutal killer is none other than, me sir.” He said further, “I am willing to confess everything and surrender.”

From April 2022 till February 2025, nearly in 10 months totally 6 women were brutally murdered. It’s a time where the police found some of their body parts in different places. At that time even though they got missing complaints of the girls, there’s no proper evidence for the police regarding the suspect.

Since all the women who were murdered are college students who goes hitchhiking, all the people called him co-ed killer. In the newspaper also they mentioned him as co-ed killer. Since a person called with such controversial name, police couldn’t leave it as it might be a prank call. Immediately they went to the place he mentioned and started searching. Like he said, they arrested him and started the investigation.

“Are you the co-ed killer?” asked the police. The killer didn’t say anything to the police.

“If you are the killer means, why you killed those 6 women?” The police asked him.

Until then, the killer was silent and looking down. But now the killer said: “Sir. I didn’t kill 6 people. I killed 8 people.”

This is the first shock for the police. But like increasing their shock even more, he said: “No no…I didn’t kill 8 people sir. I had killed 10 people.” Like this throughout the case he started to give a lot of shock to the police. Without the force from police, the killer started to say how he did those murders. 

But now the police thought, “Why a brutal serial killer like him called and surrendered himself?” 

Now, the police asked him to tell his full name. For that the killer said: “Adithya.” But after that he started to tell about the murders he did before the police asked him.

It was 2017 August and I was 15 then. I was living with my grandparents in their farmhouse in Pollachi. Since my grandfather had a habit of hunting, he had a rifle at home. Sometimes he will give it to me and teach me how to use it. But with that only I shot my grandmother. 

Hearing this the police asked to Adhithya, “Why did you shoot your grandmother?”

For that Adhithya casually said a thing to the police. 

I wished to see how she dies when I shoot her with a gun, sir. That’s why I shot her. When I was seeing her die my grandfather came home after going to a nearby shop. I thought that he might be sad if he came to know that my grandmother is dead. So I shot him with the same gun. But when the time passed I was scared. I didn’t know what to do. So I called my mother and said everything that happened. For that my mother told me to surrender. Like she said I surrendered to the police and I confessed the same to them. The judge who investigated my case in the court, gave a judgement that I should be in a psychiatric hospital. 

Police who were shocked hearing this checked Adhithya’s old crime records and hospital reports. Like he said he was sent to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. 

The psychiatrist who examined him gave a report by saying, “Adhithya was affected by Paranoid schizophrenia. Normally those who were affected by this will do wrong things for their curiosity and desire. Similarly Adhithya killed his grandparents for his curiosity and desire. He might have also been affected by hallucination.” Due to this, the court ordered Adhithya to get treatment in the same hospital.

In a few days while Adhithya is in hospital, the doctors observed his activities. They noticed that he doesn’t have any abnormal activities. Instead of that they saw him behaving good to others and helping. 

After that 3 years later in the IQ test taken to Adhithya, result said that he has 145 IQ level. Upon seeing this the police were shocked. Since the IQ level of a normal human is between 90 to 109. Here the doctor who noticed Adhithya realized that he has 145 high intelligence. They gave a final report that he is normal and smart. The court released him from the case.

Now the police noticed an important thing in the judgement. The judgement said, “Adhithya should not be with his mother. He should be alone.” Like this it was strictly mentioned. 

To know the reason why they had given like this in the court judgement, the police again started the investigation with Adhithya. For that he said the following to the police.

My mother’s name is Geetharani. She and my father Ponnuswamy. I have one elder sister and one younger sister. My father is an Electrical engineer. My mother didn’t like his job. So she will treat him badly. Both of them will always fight for some reason. So my mother thought of showing her anger towards the whole men. She started to hate me and she was very strict with me. She always kept me away from home. She will not even allow me to play with my sisters. When I was 13 years old, my parents got a divorce. 

Because of this my father who was the only company to me got separated. After this I was shamed by my mother. You are like your father. No one will like you. Like this, she shamed me. She locked me in a basement room alone. It was completely dark. Other than loneliness, I had nothing with me. Nearly for a year my eyes only saw darkness and my mother didn’t even give me enough food. Since I had enormous height and weight in my childhood beyond my age, that small basement room was like a hell to me.

Without even able to hold the torture at my age of 14, I left there saying I am going to my father. But when I went there he married another women and had a baby boy. Again I was disappointed. My father without being able to keep me with him, he sent me to his parents.(that is he sent me to my grandparents) That’s how I went and lived in my grandparent’s house and murdered them. Adhithya said with sadness to the police.

Due to this reason only, the court ordered me not to stay with my mother. But I broke it, after the release. I wished to become a police officer. But because of my huge weight and height, I was rejected. After that I worked in the transport department. That too was for a short period of time. Because of an accident my hand was fully affected and I lost the job. In the compensation money I got from the person who did that accident, I bought a car and earned some by driving a cab. But it was not enough for me. I became very weak financially. Because of this I couldn’t even give my house rent. Without any option I went to my mother’s house to stay. It was the biggest mistake I did. I shouldn’t have gone there. Because of that only I killed my mother. Like this, Adhithya shocked the police again.

In 2025, when I was 23 years, I went to my mother’s house. Only the years had changed. But my mother didn’t change a bit. The hate she had on me was the same. She became angry whenever she saw me. We had fight often. Whenever we fight, I will take my car and leave faster. When I go out, I will take girls in my car. Since, they will ask lift to me. I started to show the anger on my mother to those girls.

Similarly in May 2023, I gave a lift to two girls from the same college in my car. I took them to a forest in Coimbatore highways. When we went there, I dropped them from the car and shot them with the gun I had. After that I kept their dead body in the car dickey and took it to my house. I waited till my mother left the house. After she left I will take the dead bodies to my room. After that with the knife I had I will cut their heads from the body. After that hands, legs, thighs like this, I will chop them into separate parts. When I chop them I like it very much. After I chopped them, I will be involved in necrophilia. 

When the police looked at Adhithya, he said: “Yes sir. I will have sex with the dead bodies.” After everything is over, I will put all the chopped parts in a plastic bag and I buried their heads in the Western Ghats of Walayar. I threw other parts of their body from the hills. But before I disposed their dead bodies I will remove the bullets from their body. Since I thought that it might reduce the probability of finding the killer. I guessed it right. Because like I guessed, even though you found the buried heads in August, you couldn’t even get closer to me. Adhithya said.

Upon hearing this, the police became angry on Adhithya. Normally serial killers will kill in the same pattern and Adhithya is not an exemption. Police came to know that he did all the murders in the same pattern. What was Adhithya’s killing pattern means, first after shooting and killing his victims, he will chop their heads and other parts of the body. After that, he will have sex with the dead bodies. It was his killing pattern. 

But the police asked to Adhithya: “Whether you have any specific reason to follow this pattern?” For that he said: “Yes. There is a reason.” He said a reason which was very unexpected to the police.

When Adhithya was 10 years old he thought the hen in their house is his pet. After coming from school he played and spoke with it. One day when he came from school, Ponnuswamy was chopping the head of that hen. When Adhithya tried to stop it, his father scolded him. In front of his eyes he removed the skin of the hen to cook it. For that, he chopped the hen into pieces. Without stopping it Geetharani(his mother) forced him to eat that chicken. 

Ponnuswamy chopped the hen’s head many times in front of his eyes. This thing which Adhithya’s father did is to make him overcome his fear. But it made a curiosity for Adhithya to chop the head of other animals like hen. As a result he killed a cat in his house by chopping it’s head. 

After that Adhithya went one step beyond. He got the curiosity to chop human heads after seeing a magic show. He saw a magic show in which they chop a head. In that, Adhithya saw a man’s head chopped fakely. 

Adhithya said to the police: “At that time, I felt it would be nice if his head was really chopped sir.” After that in September 2022, a 15-year old girl, in January 2023, a 18-year old girl and in the next month February he picked two girls from the college. Like this these 6 women were the one whom I saw after I had a fight with my mother. 

Yes. I killed them like the two girls whom I killed before. First I shot them. After shooting them, I chopped their heads and body parts. After having sex with their dead bodies I disposed their dead bodies. But I buried one of their heads in my garden. That too I buried like the head sees my mother’s bedroom. Since my mother doesn’t like to see me and I thought that this girl’s head must see her always. That’s why I buried that head there. Like this, Adhithya said cunningly.

Due to the anger I had on my mother, I murdered other girls. But the day to kill my mother also came. On April 20’s last night, I killed my mother. Hearing this, the police were stunned.

As usual a fight started between me and my mother. She scolded me and went to sleep in the bedroom. But this time instead of killing others for her, I decided to kill her. I waited until she slept. After a while when she slept, I took a hammer and continuously hit on her head. I repeatedly hit her until I was satisfied. In that, her head scattered. The parts splashed in the walls. But I was not satisfied yet. Now, I slit her throat and took the head separately. Now the head, without any movement or noise, I kept it in the wardrobe and enjoyed it for more than an hour. I stood before the head of my mother who was shouting at me for these many days. Today I shouted. With a knife, I cut her tongue and voice box. After cutting them, I put it in the dustbin. I hid my mother’s dead body in my house wardrobe. Adhithya said.

Upon hearing this, when police was immediately getting ready to take the dead body, Adhithya stopped the police. 

“Sir. In the wardrobe there is not only my mother’s dead body. Along with my mother’s friend, Jayarani’s dead body is also there” said Adhithya. 

Now the police who heard this felt dizzy. They was very confused. They asked Adhithya: “Why you killed her?”

For that, Adhithya replied, “I thought of escaping from the police after killing my mother. So I made a plan to call my mother’s friend, Jayarani. I asked her to come home for dinner. When she comes I thought of killing her. Before she came, I prepared a letter about leaving the house. Since I thought if I do like this, the police will think that some stranger killed my mother and her friend when they were alone. I thought that I can easily escape from this. Yes. Like I planned I did everything and finally I left the house and got in the car.” Like this, Adhithya confessed all the 10 murders he did.

Now police had only one question in their mind.

They asked to Adhithya, “You thought and planned everything to escape from the police. But why you called us to surrender by yourself?” Like this, the police asked to him.

For that Adhithya emotionally said: “Sir. After killing each girl, I will feel very sad. For my personal anger and revenge, I had a guilty feeling that I killed this innocent people whom I didn’t even know. But at that time my extreme anger will destroy my guilty feeling and I will get ready for another murder. But when I killed my mother, my anger died. My guilty feeling stopped me from escaping after killing my mother. I thought it for a while. At that time, tears were running from my eyes. I felt like the tears were the sin I did to those girls. To accept the punishment for that sin, I called you.” 

Adhithya was sad while telling this to the police.

ONE MONTH LATER

MAY 7, 2025

For killing 10 people, Adhithya was announced as a first degree murderer. He asked the court to give him a painful death sentence for all he had done. When he was in jail, he tried to commit suicide for two times.

Psychiatrist Gowri Murugan gave an explanation for M’Naghten standard rule. The rule says, “A person who was affected psychologically, will not understand the nature and quality of the thing he does. Suppose if he had understood what he is doing, he must have not known what he is doing is wrong.” This is that rule. 

“Adhithya showed curiosity in chopping head without knowing it is wrong. It must be the starting point for his psychological issues” said Gowri Murugan, when the media questioned about Adhithya to him. 

On June 8, 2025, with 6 male and 6 female judges, after five hours of arguments to the killer Adhithya who killed 10 people, they announced lifetime imprisonment. But at the same place, he pleaded many times that he wants a death sentence. Now Adhithya is in Coimbatore Central jail to undergo his lifetime imprisonment.

“How the people were treated in their childhood, they will become like that later. So the character of people doesn’t come from birth.
