SHADOWS OF ISOLATION

APRIL 8, 2017

KERALA

On that morning a phone call came to Nanthancode police station in Trivandrum. ACP Arjun Harikumar who came to duty that morning was very busy with his works. In that call a shocking news came which made him more hectic. Hearing that his whole police team got ready to go out. Nanthancode in Thiruvananthapuram is a very important place. Since Kerala Chief Minister’s house is in that area only. 

Now in the phone call a person said, “Sir. Two storey house of number 117’s in huge fire. A smell of human burning is spreading all over the area.” This was the information said by the neighbors in that phone call to Arjun. Hearing that he proceeds faster to the spot. Arjun took the fire and forensic department to the crime scene. The fire was caught in the first floor of the house. Since the fire didn’t spread to the ground floor of the house, everything was normal there. 

After Arjun and his police team put out the fire, to see what is there in the first floor and why it caught fire, and where are the people of the house, they went and checked the first floor. But a shocking scene was waiting for the police team. 

Arjun’s police team found four dead bodies in a fully burnt stage. As soon as Arjun saw that he knew that it was a murder. 

Now Arjun and his team started their investigation. When looking at the crime scene the dead bodies were very horrible. Something were put on the dead bodies and was purposely set on fire. In a few minutes Arjun comes to know about the name and details of the dead persons. 

People who were living in the same house are- 60 year old retired professor Raja Thankam, his 58 years old retired doctor wife Jean Padma, his 25-years old daughter Caroline. She was studying MBBS and 70 years old aunty Lalitha with vision deficiency. These four in the first floor bedroom’s bathroom, were found in a brutally burned stage. 

In a house in Kerala’s most important area, the incident of four people being murdered made the area people shocked. The area people began to be frightened. 

When Arjun started the investigation and enquired about that four people, he came to know that five people lived in that house and not four. When his team searched for the fifth person, Arjun came to know about the 30-year old elder son Cadell Adhithya Raja. At the same time, Arjun ensured whether there was any traces to rob the house, or for some other reason someone tried to enter the house. But there was no evidence for any forced entry in the house.

When Arjun enquired about the people in the house they had a big doubt. 

“Why the killer who killed four people didn’t kill Cadell Adhithya? Why his dead body is not there?” Arjun had a question about, “Where is Cadell Adhithya?”

Immediately Arjun started searching Cadell Adhithya. 

“Who is Cadell Adhithya? What was his character?” Like this, Arjun enquired about him to all his neighbors. After the enquiry, Arjun’s team collected his photo and pasted his poster throughout Kerala. They started searching him by telecasting in all news and medias.

Railway station, bus stop, Cadell Adhithya’s old school friend’s house, like this Arjun and his team started searching him in all the places. 

APRIL 9, 2017

Meanwhile, Cadell Adhithya went to catch the train to Chennai from Thiruvananthapuram in Thampanoor Railway station. Arjun and his team came to know about this. Immediately they went there and caught him.

But in that situation by looking at Cadell Adhithya’s behavior to the police, everyone was shocked. His behavior confused everyone. 

Even when there were many police to catch him, he was not even afraid. Even when Arjun said the reason for his arrest, Cadell Adhithya was just calm. Even when he came to know that all the four people died in his house, without worrying he was smiling. In that smile Arjun’s team was also shocked.

When Arjun saw Cadell Adhithya in normal mode, he thought something was wrong with him. Immediately he arrested him under suspicion. When he took him to investigate under custody, Cadell Adhithya didn’t ask any question. Without fearing he co-operated with the police. 

After that, when Arjun investigated him, Cadell Adhithya gave a disturbing statement. He accepted that he was the one who did that four murders. When he enquired why he did that, he said a thing which no one and the police expected. He started saying a strange and weird thing. 

Cadell Adhithya Raja was born as an elder son in a well educated and rich family. His father Raja Thankam and mother Jean Padma was well educated. They was in a good work in the society. When Cadell Adhithya grew up, all the things he wanted was given to him before he even asked. Even though his parents are well educated and were in a good work, he has no interest in studies. Video games were his only hobby from his childhood. He doesn’t have a lot of friends and will not talk with his co-students.

When Cadell Adhithya grew up he became very lonely. He will not even talk normally to the family of what he wants and what he think. Since he got everything without even asking, to discuss with parents in the family, to behave friendly with sister and family members, like this he didn’t have any thoughts or behaved like it. 

After Cadell Adhithya finished his school studies, his parents got a medical test in Ukraine Medical college for him and sent him to study MBBS there. But even without completing the first year he discontinued it and came home to live his lonely life in his bedroom. 

After that some days since he had a lot of interest in video games, he went to Australia and started studying Artificial intelligence. But he discontinued that also. After that his world is like his bedroom on the first floor. Even when he was home he will not come out of his bedroom. Even when he come to ground floor he will eat and immediately go upstairs. Since he doesn’t have any friends in the neighborhood, there was no need for him to go out. He doesn’t like if someone in the house disturbs him. 

Cadell Adhithya made a condition that no one should come to his room. But his parents didn’t take that into consideration. They thought that he will be alright by himself and didn’t force him to do anything. His parents didn’t force him to study or go to a good work. But at that time they didn’t realize that their carelessness is going to cost their lives.

When these things happened Cadell Adhithya Raja was 30 years old. Even at that time he spent his time lonely with the computer in his bedroom. When the days passed by that horrible day also came. 

APRIL 4, 2017

Unusually on that day Cadell Adhithya came out of his bedroom. He went to his mother who was eating on the ground floor. He said, “Mom. I found a video game after trying for these many days. It has come out well. So please come and check it.” Like this he called his mother to his bedroom. His mother also came. 

Since his son called her unusually, she washed her hands. Without caring about anything, she went with him to his bedroom on the first floor. As soon as they went inside, Cadell Adhithya made her sit in front of the computer and put on the new game he invented. He gave some explanation at first and made her to watch it.

At the same time when Cadell Adhithya’s mother was watching the game he found on his room, he slowly moved from where he was standing and closed the room door. Now, he casually came and stood near his mother. Without considering her son closing the door, she was casually watching the game. But she doesn’t know that he is going to execute his plan after this.

When his mother didn’t look, Cadell Adhithya took a big axe and hit his own mother in her back head. But she was watching the computer very interestingly. She might not have thought this type of horrible thing would happen to her. Since it happened so fast in that shock she couldn’t even scream. 

Cadell Adhithya didn’t hit her one time with that axe. Nearly 17 times he hit her continuously with that axe. Since she was continuously attacked with that axe, why she was dying, what is happening there, and why her son is hitting her like this without knowing anything, on the spot in a pool of blood Cadell Adhithya’s mother died. Like this he killed his mother brutally. When he came to know that she died, without any fear or love, he looked at her body with tension. He continuously kept on watching her. 

After watching for a while, Cadell Adhithya was disappointed that he couldn’t achieve what he thought. He started thinking without knowing what to do next. Now he started walking around the room for a while. After that he dragged his mother’s dead body, and put it in his bedroom’s bathroom.

Without knowing that their son is going to be their death god, they gave birth to him and raised him for 30 years. This is what they got as a surprise for that. Now Cadell Adhithya started cleaning the blood with some chemicals and bathroom cleaning utilities. After everything was perfectly cleaned as if nothing had happened one hour later, he went to the ground floor again. There, he started talking with his father there.

 At the same time when those horrible things were happening upstairs, Cadell Adhithya’s father was at home. Now he said to his father that he invented a new video game and asked him to come and check it. His father also casually went to his room like his mother. Now Cadell played the video game like before and his father also sat in the same chair where his mother sat and died. He started watching the video game interestingly.

Without any guilt that his mother died a few minutes ago, Cadell Adhithya again went and closed the bedroom door. After that while speaking with his father about the game, he again took that axe that he hid under the bed. His father without knowing any of this in an unexpected time, like how he killed his mother without any change, he hit his father continuously with axe and killed him. His father also died in a pool of blood in the same place.

After that Cadell Adhithya was looking at his father’s body for a while. When he was looking at his father’s body, he dragged the body in anger that nothing happened according to his thought, and put that in the same bathroom with his mother’s body. After that he cleaned the room again. After a while he went out looking for his next target. 

When Cadell Adhithya came out of his room, he went straight to Caroline’s bedroom who came for leave. There he again said a lie to his sister and asked her to come to his bedroom. Since her brother called her suddenly she went to his bedroom without any thought. When Caroline went to his room, he made her sit in front of the computer and played the video game. After that while casually talking to his sister, he brutally killed his sister with an axe. 

In a single day without any reason, his mother, father and sister all three of them, were killed mercilessly by Cadell Adhithya. After killing three of them like a crazy man, he was walking in that room without knowing what to do. After that he put his sister’s body in the bedroom. Without letting anyone to doubt him, he again cleaned his bedroom.

After cleaning everything, without any mercy or fear, Cadell Adhithya sat on the same chair and started playing video game. During the night without any guilt, he slept in the same bedroom. 

After that the next day on April 6, their house maid came for work. When she came home it was very calm without anyone. The women thought that they were still sleeping. She went straight to the kitchen to start doing her work. After completing the kitchen work, she came out.

At that time, Cadell Adhithya also came down from the first floor. Now she asked him, “Where are your parents?”

For that Cadell Adhithya said, “Everyone went for vacation. They will not return for two days. You also don’t come for 2 days.” He went upstairs. Since he will always speak in one or two words, their maid didn’t suspect his words. Since the house was calm and normal as usual, without considering them she left the house after completing her works.

For the next 2 days, Cadell Adhithya was playing video games in the same bedroom, where he has hidden his parents and sister’s dead bodies in a bathroom. On April 7, 2017, when he went and checked the bodies in the bathroom, he realized that the bodies were decomposing slowly. 

When he thought of what to do next, Cadell Adhithya planned a very brutal and horrible thing. He fixed his next target. To see his 70 year old Lalitha aunty who was living in their house, Cadell Adhithya went to her room. He went there and asked her to come to his room by saying that he was bored and wants to talk to her. Hearing that by holding Cadell Adhithya’s hand, she went to his room without knowing what he is going to do next. As soon as she went inside his room, without even thinking he hit her brutally and started torturing her. Without considering that she was old and blind, he hit and hanged her in his room. Cadell Adhithya was enjoying her dying due to strangling of her neck.

After that Cadell Adhithya took the dead body and rolled it in a bed sheet. He kept this with the other three dead bodies. He was thinking what to do next. After a while Cadell Adhithya went out of his house as if nothing had happened. He went to the petrol bunk near his house and bought 5 litres of petrol. 

Now, Cadell Adhithya bought petrol and returned home. He took some old things to his bedroom which will burn nicely. After that he put that waste above those four dead bodies, poured petrol and set it on fire. Before the dead bodies were burnt, he took some necessary things and was ready to leave the house. 

Before his father, mother, sister and aunty were burnt into ashes, Cadell Adhithya left the house without the knowledge of his neighbors. He ensured that they didn’t have any doubt when he left the house. Even though it is a two storey house, there were not a lot of windows. There were no windows in Cadell Adhithya’s room. It took a lot of time for the fire and smoke to be visible outside. 

Cadell Adhithya used that time to escape and went to a lodge near Thiruvananthapuram railway station. He stayed that night there and planned to escape the next day. But before that police came to know about that and arrested him at Thampanoor railway station. 

PRESENT

When Cadell Adhithya was investigated by Arjun, he confessed to him about how he did that four murders. 

“Okay. You only did that murder. But why you murdered them all?” asked Arjun Harikumar.

Cadell Adhithya said an answer which no one thought or expected. 

“Sir. I had a lot of interest and belief in satanic rituals. That’s why I killed my own family members and I did an experiment with that.” By giving human sacrifices to Satan, and with that to do an experiment in switching souls, Cadell Adhithya planned for a long time. How soul is leaving the body, to know by using Astral projection method he tried to do it. He killed four of them for that only. After taking their souls from the body, to check where their souls are roaming he did this. 

In his fantasy what are all the things he is thinking, and what type of video games he is seeing with all that, from the dead body making the souls switch body, and by trying to give life to the dead body, for that he really killed four people. To check how the soul is coming out of the body, he did that. Hearing this not only Arjun Harikumar, but all his neighbors were shocked.

Cadell Adhithya’s statement made the whole Kerala people to turn and look at him. 

“Cadell Adhithya is always lonely. He will not even talk to anyone loudly.” No one believed that he did this type of thing. 

Even after he confessed that he did it, Arjun thought that he might be mentally affected. When this case came to the court, a group started supporting him that because of his mental health he did like this. Upon hearing this, Arjun’s team kept him in a mental hospital and started treating him.

In the doctor’s observation, they said that Cadell Adhithya might be having some problems like multiple personality disorder. 

But finally the doctor said, “Even though Cadell Adhithya tried to switch souls, and killed four people to do that experiment, he didn’t take his life which means he didn’t try that experiment on himself. From this what we can know is if he kill someone they will die. And if he did that experiment to himself he can’t be alive again. That’s why he tried it on his family members. For his experiment without any mercy or love he killed his family. Even though he has small mental disorders, he knows that he is doing a murder and it was wrong. That’s why he tried to escape after the murder. So the punishment can be given to him and there is nothing wrong in that.” Like this the doctors who checked him gave a final report to the court.

Since Cadell Adhithya had some mental problems, they are giving treatment to him in the jail. Now also he is in Poojapura Central jail. Meanwhile, Arjun Harikumar and his team discuss about a twist in Cadell Adhithya’s case while consuming alcohol in the house.

At that time, Arjun said to his teammate, “Like the public think, Cadell Adhithya didn’t do these murders for satanic rituals.”

“Then, for what sir?” asked his teammate. In an intoxicated state, Arjun looks at him and said, “He did this due to his personal intention.” As the teammate continues to look at Arjun, he said to him: 

“Cadell Adhithya won’t study well. So his family members were always teasing him. His father and mother were well educated and his sister was also studying good. So their family members didn’t respect him. His parents were forcing him to study. Even though they did this to make him study, like all other parents, Cadell Adhithya started seeing his parents as an enemy. Since they scolded him for not studying, he didn’t have any love or affection towards his family members. That’s why exactly when his sister returned from Ukraine, he did this experiment to kill them. If he get caught, to escape from the judgment he used his mental illness. That’s why he said this type of video game story.” Upon hearing this, Arjun’s teammate was shocked.

When Arjun’s teammates checked Cadell Adhithya’s computer, laptop and internet usage, they found that he was really in a black magic community of worshipping Satan. To do these murders he planned for months. The murder took place on April 5, 2017. But one month before this, on March 21, 2017 he bought 2 axe in Flipkart. The teammates of Arjun came to a conclusion that it was a planned murder.

Even though Cadell Adhithya came from a well-educated and wealthy family, he spent most of his time lonely. If a child didn’t get a proper and healthy social life, it has a lot of chance for the kid to turn into a monster like this. Concepts of wrong parenting is not new in my stories. But even when father, mother, sister and aunty were all living in the same house, without being together everyone went to the room and locked after their work. If they didn’t spend time with their children the result might be very horrible. 

Cadell Adhithya’s neighbors and maid said: “Their family will not talk to each other. They will have individual works. Only for eating they will sit together. After that everyone will be in their room. In particular Cadell Adhithya will always be in his room. We still can’t believe that a silent boy like him did this type of thing.” After watching satanic rituals for nearly 10 years, he was affected by superstitious beliefs. By looking at that horrible experiments he was getting ready. But if his parents checked his laptop or mobile for at least one day to note what was there, or when he was alone in his room if they went to his room, and talked to him friendly, maybe his mind might be changed. 

Cadell Adhithya is not 16 or 18 years old. He was 30 years old when he did this murder. When he did this murder he was living like he lived in his childhood. After he was captured by the police no one knows the reason for his smile. Since his experiment didn’t work he said to Arjun that he was sad.  

“Even after killing four people, I couldn’t see how their souls left the body. That’s why I am sad.” Arjun stared at Cadell Adhithya in vexation, upon hearing this statement.

(Even in this 21st century lot of people were affected by wrong superstitious beliefs. That too a lot of youngsters using internet, and school kids who are spending excess of time in phone, like this lot of people are wishing to live in a fantasy world. For them ghosts, evil spirits, satan rituals are taught. Now also they see a lot of videos in internet based on these things in order to join that community. After joining that community, they experiment it by saying that they are worshipping Satan. Here I didn’t say about the people who are just seeing ghost videos. Because who doesn’t like to hear about ghost stories. When I was a child if someone say about ghost story I will hear it interestingly. But after hearing that I will be afraid without sleeping the whole night. Most of us are like that only. But here I am saying beyond that. In that some of them believe ghost stories are real. If they do black magic they can see ghost directly. Thinking like that they are living in an imaginary world. This four brutal murders is because of that person who is caught in this addiction. The black magic concept is not only in our country. It is also famous in foreign countries. That too in internet there are lots of websites for this. By joining in that type of community and seeing the videos they upload, the person totally immerse themselves in that. After that, they will become heartless slowly. For doing what they thought they will go to any extreme.) 

EPILOGUE

“Whatever happens around us it may be right or wrong, take that as an example. Think what is right and raise your child in a good way. We can’t protect our children 24x7 from getting a bad example. But the sense of deciding what is right and wrong, it is in the hands of parents of how they teach to them.
