The Eternal Love

50 beautiful years and still counting, it is tough for me to express what I feel. I still remember the day when I first saw her. Her dreamy eyes, long shiny hair, killer smile, and confidence, everything made me go crazy. 

It was my first year in college around 1970. Everything was perfect, and a whole new life waited for me ahead, but the day I saw her, the world around me stopped. I planned a whole lot of script to talk to her but never gathered the strength.

Well, destiny has something great held for me. We were in the same class and were seated back to back. As the time passed, we casually started to talk. I always wished I could tell her how I feel, but feared what if she said no. But I always had a feeling that the feeling was mutual.

Days turned to months and months to years. It was 1974, and we were about to leave the college with jobs in our hands. The silent love we had in between us was still under the line. Meanwhile, we got placed in the same company.

I thought to myself, "This is destiny. It wants us to be together."

I was overwhelmed. Soon enough, our families started to look for a perfect spouse. I felt restless and upset. This time she came forward and expressed what she felt and asked me what I think. I was startled. I soon gathered the strength and expressed my feelings.

The challenging task was yet to begin. We talked at home and told everything. It was not easy to convince everyone. After 1 year in 1975, we finally reached our destination and were together in the unbreakable bond of love.

Sarita and I, Ramesh, are today celebrating our 50th marriage anniversary. The teenage love that we shared is stronger than ever. It's 2021, and we are here to see many more beautiful years yet to come.

For many our love is a story, for us it is an eternal feeling that we have shared for last 50 years.
