The Confusing Notes
The Confusing Notes
Raju was a B.Tech 1st year student in an Engineering College. He was a highly knowledgeable student, but he never scored well in examinations. He was not able to understand this problem & because of this, he was always upset. One day he made up his mind & went to his HOD & told him about this problem. The HOD said, "Ok don't worry. Tell me how you prepare for the examination." Raju said, "Sir I study through self-prepared notes." The HOD said, "Ok. Show me your notes." Raju went to his classroom & said he had brought his notes.
Looking at the notes, the HOD was shocked. Everything was just copied from the textbook. The HOD said, "Is this what you call notes? You just copied what is written in the book. Why did you waste your time? You could have studied directly from the book." Raju was silent.
The HOD said, "The right way of preparing notes is firstly you should study the book thoroughly. Once you understand the concepts, write them in your own words in a short form that you can understand easily. Notes must be prepared for our Self-understanding.
Now the second point is qualifying for the Examination. Improve the way you write in examinations. Firstly the handwriting should be good. Divide the text into paragraphs & each paragraph should explain a different aspect of the asked concept. Draw a neat labeled diagram, wherever necessary. Underline essential words, abbreviations, and sentences in your answer so that the examiner can notice that. It proves your intelligence in front of the examiner.
And one more thing. We prepare notes in the short form for our fast understanding. In the examination, elaborate your answers according to the marks allotted to a particular question."
Raju was pleased by his teacher's advice. He thanked his teacher & happily went back to the class. Now he has understood the right way of studying. In the next semester examination, he followed the same pattern & scored more than 85%.
