The Brave Dog

Krish, Ishan, and Rahul sat in a comfortable and warm position beside Grandpa as it was the storytime and Grandpa had a lot of interesting and fascinating stories to share.

“Grandpa, please tell us stories about your experiences when you were a fire ranger.” Ishan said, “No! I want to hear animal stories.” They were endlessly disputing for about 20 minutes. Grandpa told them to stop disputing but those companions were not attending him. Then finally Grandpa said, “Ok quiet, be quiet. Let’s flip a coin.” Rahul chose tails and won the toss. Grandpa told, “Ok, Rahul your wish will be fulfilled but after I finish telling you the story, I will fulfill Ishan’s wish.” They both agreed on Grandpa’s judgment.

Grandpa said: “I will tell you a story about a dog that saved me and a little girl’s lives from a blast at a building.

He said, “10 years ago when I was a fire ranger on my last day of obligation. I and my team were told to protect 5 children stuck in a building which caught fire due to short circuit.” Krish said, “That could be very threatening.”

“Hopefully I saved the 5 children but there was a misconception of the total number of children. We knew that there were only 5 children but in reality, there were 6 children. So, we had secured 5 children. Should we leave the other child in the danger?” “Of course not. Why would you leave a child in danger?” said Ishan. Grandpa expressed, “That is the point. Why would we leave a child in danger? I determined that I would save the child. So, I went into the room where the little girl was and I saw she was wearing a jacket with an explosive and the dial read that it will erupt in 15 minutes. I tried to open the knot of the jacket constantly for 5 minutes. Ten minutes were left there was no moment left to call the bomb squad. Then a dog came to my rescue he chewed the knot and untied it. We came out safely and the building vented. The dog who was named Rocky later became famous and I became his loving master."
