Tansen And The Bilahari Raag

 Legend tells how Tansen was saved from the power of Deepak Raag by his daughter who sang the Melhar Raag for him, such was the power of the Raag.

Saraswati, the daughter of Tansen was beautiful and her praises were widespread. An enemy from the neighboring kingdom wanted to marry her and so he set out to visit Agra. 

When he reached Agra and requested to marry Saraswati, the entire kingdom was against him but he truly loved her. So he changed his look and visited Tansen. He requested Tansen to teach him the Bilahari Raag as it was the most pleasant Raag, also known as the morning Raag. He practiced it for weeks.

Everyone in the kingdom was happy but no one realized that the positivity actually came from the morning Raag that the disguised enemy sang. Saraswati who had a good knowledge of the Raag understood this, she did some research on the person.

After she knew the truth, she discussed the matter with Tansen. Tansen who already knew the reality said to her ' I did not teach him the Bilahari instead I used to teach him the Deepak Raag, I wonder how he managed to learn the Bilahari Raag.

Standing in the corner, the enemy now entered the room and said ' Master, I know an enemy is never trusted and so I instead of learning what you taught me, sat by the banks of the river When he reached Agra and requested to marry Saraswati, the entire kingdom was against him but he truly loved her. er every morning and sang in harmony with the birds, I did not know it was which Raag but it was from my heart with love for my beloved'

Love has the power to change any human saying so Tansen gave his daughter in marriage to the enemy.
