Stories by Granny….

When I visited my granny’s house after a long time as usual at night, I asked her to tell horror stories, though she refused firstly as I would get scared- after forcing her, she finally agreed to tell one which she herself had experienced when she was at hospital….

Story: 01

When my granny was admitted to hospital for a surgery, she had to remain in the hospital for next one week for her treatment. Day one- she was not in conscious due to effect of anesthesia but later that night she felt like somebody was beside her and caressing her hair she was not able to open her eyes.

Next day morning as she woke up, she said she a dwarf man who was standing next to her, when she asked him who he was, why he was standing next to her? he replied telling that he was murdered by his distant relatives after he refused to give money to them but his family doesn’t know that he was dead!! when my mother came to give her breakfast suddenly the man ran and stood in the corner of room and silently watched them talking with the teary eye the same repeated with the doctors when they came on routine check.

At night when my mother went to sleep, he would come out again and start talking with me, he pleaded me to let his family know about his death- as I got scared, I used to send him away he would stand at the corner and would again come back. Granny did not tell this to my mother as even she would get scared.

Granny saw that man daily at her ward who used to wander alone in search of his family member but at the end he ended up in disappointment as he saw none from his family. Granny who thought of telling this to doctors but kept quiet as no one would believe her words, as she could not see him suffering, she felt that the person did not get any happy

ness while he was alive and, in his death, also he has no proper ending. From the next day she did not see the man… granny explained what she had experienced from past few days to a nurse there, to her surprise nurse said granny that his family had come to collect his body yesterday and also said that she believes in granny’s words as even she had experienced may such horrific experience.

Later that day granny was discharged from hospital after recovering, she had some satisfied feeling while she left……

After listening to the first story I asked her to tell more and stories, she smiled and started…

Story: 02

One day it had become late at night may be it was half past nine when I was coming from farm to house, at the back yard I saw a lady standing quiet without any movement when I asked her several times who she was she just waved her saree pallu said nothing and stood still… immediately your grandfather pulled me in and he said he would explain everything in the morning and now they shall sleep.

Next day morning when I asked him about the lady, he said she was the one who was working as a maid at nearby house but later she committed suicide one day before, the reason for her death is still not known my friend also saw her and told me about it – he warned me to use the front door from that day…

Story: 03

This story was about her first horrific experience, which she experienced at her in-law’s place.

I was eighteen years old when I got married, when I went to my in-law’s house after marriage that night when all of us were sitting and talking suddenly there was a power cut which was usual at village side granny was scared deep inside. Suddenly she saw a lantern moving in that dark though she first felt like someone was on the way walking with lantern but later as the light approached near, she observed it was just a lantern that was moving and no one was there…

Soon my mother in law asked everyone to get inside and she closed the door, when I said that I just saw the lantern moving my mother in law stopped me in middle and asked me to have dinner and go to sleep as she would explain about this later. I did not get sleep that night remembering about it and was scared, somewhere in the corner I wanted to know about it, I waited for sun to rise soon so I could ask my mother in law about it.

Next day I eagerly went to my mother in law and asked what was it – she replied with a smile saying a month back a tiger had escaped from the forest nearby at night a lady who had been to town was returning home late at night in the darkness she did not see the tiger and the tiger attacked her and she was killed by it , since that day people tell that it is the same lady with the lantern walks on the street but she has not harmed anyone. Some say she walks with people till the corner without giving them trouble….

After hearing this my fear was gone, I felt sad for her. Whenever I tried sneaking out at night time my mother in law warned me to get inside and two years later we shifted to our new house I did not experience anything as such …

It was 11.30 night she wanted me to go to bed, though I was scared I was not ready to sleep I asked her to tell the last story.

Story: 04

This was random one which she heard from her sister in law,

One night my granny’s sister in law heard a child’s cry out of her house, when she looked out of window, she saw a small child crying crawling behind a car’s tire as that child saw my sister-in-law it disappeared, she slept with eyes tightly closed in fear. Next day morning as she woke up, she told her husband about it and that night even her husband saw the same thing he knew that it was a soul and said her not to open the window and would change their house soon. Next day when she was talking with her neighbor soon this topic came out - lady said not to get scared and said that the whole family died in an accident only the child was alive but after two days even the child died. Some of their relatives left the car near here and went, no one dared to buy this house and car. From that day the baby cries at night and we all have seen it. As the days passed by within one year the noise also reduced…

Finally, I was sleepy and was scared too. Granny said with a smile that she would continue the stories next day I wished her good night and went back to sleep…...
