She Looked Away First……

The stars adorned the sky just like any other day; the moonlit sky had no planned surprises for her until she flipped her hair and turned her head towards the glimmering ocean. Her wandering eyes set her gaze on the transparent, big glass window – exhausted and drained, all she wanted was to be wrapped in the warmth of a blanket and be at home. A gentle, cold breeze flits across her skin and that’s when she sees him walking towards her with his hands in his pocket. No one knows what inched him to walk towards his left to be in her direct path, it was just a gripping desire to stay longer in the moment. His pace slowed down as he could see her clearly, his rugged, dark face lit up with a smile and his dimple was the first thing she noticed. They were too close now, they felt foolish yet continued to gaze up and look at each other. For they knew the cold, gentle breeze that caressed their skin was their first and last moment together. Lids lowered, time resumed, and life continued. 

She looked away first. The Road Not Taken and that has made all the difference. 

Breeze never caressed their skin this softly ever again and the sky was just dark like the blackest nights for them. Ages blurred but the moment stayed.
