Heading For The Clouds
Heading For The Clouds
It felt like I was heading into the belly of the beast, that’s exactly how I would describe my first day at the hotel – adorning my best suit, I walked into a hotel that rose majestically above any other hotel in the city for me. Striking works of art, stunning views of the beach, and a lobby sprawled by Bollywood celebrities, JW Marriott Mumbai Juhu was my golden sun that rose through the storm for me after a year.
As daunting as it felt, what made me feel at home was the buzz around me each time my train halted at Andheri or Dadar station or when a throng of irate Mumbaikars rushed to make their way to the train, without a care of their life or when I’d just sit by myself by the beach or go for long walks on the arterial roads in Bandra late in the night with family and friends.
A year later, it would be safe to say that a more evolved, nurtured and groomed Mahek steps out with eagerness to learn and an undying passion for what she does. She didn't do it alone - days of tears in the bathroom, days of disappointed looks from her mentors, days of questioning her worth and more. From the long feedback sessions in Krypton to writing wrong dates in the newsletter to managing shoots to crying and complaining like a baby about travelling and work to her mentor cum friend now, she has come a long way and has a longer way to go.
Atleast this Mumbai girl can now push her way through to get down at the station because it didn't take much time to realise that "excuse me" doesn't mean that people will actually make way for her in the train.
Home -
Coming home to Pritika's cheerful smile who would be sitting on the carpet waiting to hear all my stories to IHM-A house parties in my Khar house to shifting to Malad, learning to travel in the local to coming home to my sister and enjoying a warm cup of tea with her, everything has been a blessing.
A year later - "Beneath time's flowing tide, a glimmer of sunshine is awaiting to be captured and run as a Meta Ad by me"
