Rainy Days

Rainy Days

Yes It started raining that evening, I settled on my bean bag with my snacks and coffee. The smell of sand spread all over and took me back to my past times. Those were treasurable memories. Memories are like the depth of the ocean. It goes on and on.

I could see a little girl on the rainy street through my balcony. She was carrying a puppy in her hand which she took from the nearby dust box. I could see a smile on her face, a kind smile. Empathy for someone

is rare nowadays.

She bought tea from an old man's shop one for her and another for the puppy. I started admiring her activities. It seems that she paid the old man more. She was on her way home then.

The downpour turned into a flood in the upcoming days. It was terrific for everyone to fulfil even their basic needs.

I found the same old man feeding biscuits to the street dogs. I thought was he mad to do things like this. Instead of filling his stomach, he is throwing biscuits to street dogs. Oh, God!! If I get those biscuits, I would feel good.

Somehow after weeks, our life turned normal. I asked the old man for his acts.

He put his hands around my shoulder and said, "Dear, On that rainy day, I couldn't make money for my food the next day. A little girl gave me her coins with love to fill my stomach. That was more than enough for me. When the street dogs stood in front of my shop with hungry in their eyes, I felt their pain. I know how it would be. So I did it"

A new blossom developed in me on hearing his words.

We all share the same mother earth. Our life span is too short. In that let's try to share the pain and happiness of all living entities and lead an amicable life.
