Vaani was the most optimistic person I had ever met! She wore her calm attitude on her sleeves and it rubbed off in some way or the other on everyone around her. Her smiling face, her gleaming eyes and her cool demeanour added to her beautiful aura. In-office, anyone having a bad day would make it a point to see her and she would tell them how to look at the positive side of the situation and that would instantly lift their moods and spirits. “How do you do it Vaani? It’s not easy to have positive thoughts throughout the day…. You truly are gifted!” I told her one day. Smiling she expressed, “each morning when I get up, I tell myself that I have only two choices today…either to have positive thoughts and have a good day or to have no thoughts at all to have a normal boring day. I choose to have an awesome day by thinking positive all the time!”

Her eyes were twinkling as she was replied and I could actually see the power of her positive thoughts being reflected in there. No wonder they say eyes are the doorways to one’s heart and soul! She indeed was a happy soul with a heart so pure! Even when she was fired from her job because of reorganizational changes in the company, not once did she crib or complain. She took up this opportunity to start working as a freelance architect. We never lost touch but yes, we could not find as much time to meet frequently. When her husband passed away, I went to see her. She was sad but still, I could feel her aura of positivity like a halo around her. “Life is not easy. It throws us curve balls all the time. But it is our choice to react to the throws that we miss or the ones we catch. Life is all about choices you see…and it's completely how you think and react and live your life,” she calmly stated. I was simply amazed at the power of her positive thoughts. Vaani passed through the difficult phase because of her amazing attitude. I learned from her that every day we have the choice to live fully. Thoughts and attitude, after all, make a big difference in life. Today, she is happily remarried to a wonderful person and has a son. I make it a point to stay in touch with her so that her optimistic attitude and power of her positive thoughts keep influencing me!
