She looked gorgeous in the intricately embroidered silk lehenga and her bridal look was accentuated even more by the matching red dupatta, adorned with golden beads and lace, which she had delicately pinned over her hair. She wanted to look perfect on her big day.

Her family’s hunt for a perfect match ended with Sahil, who was tall, rich and handsome. Samayra wanted a grand wedding and that's what her loving wealthy family gave her, and today, her happiness knew no bounds.

As she sat besides Sahil to tie the conjugal knot and to take the pious steps around the holy fire, her heart pounded in a mixed rhythm of euphoria. She looked at him with love soaked eyes, ready to plunge in the deep sea of marital vows. Then she looked at her beloved parents, who were more than ready to do her ‘kanyadaan’ and hand her off to a whole new person. She could read the feelings in her dad’s eyes which were brimming with happiness and sadness, both at the same time. She could interpret what her mother was silently saying in her heart of hearts to Sahil…”today we are handing you our delicate piece of our heart; please handle her with care!” And unknowingly, Samayra’s eyes glistened with tears!

All the rituals and celebrations were over and it was time for her ‘bidai’.

She thought she would not weep or cry on the happiest day of life, but to her surprise, she was squalling like a baby while hugging her mom, dad and brother.

She had never imagined that leaving her beloved house would be so awfully painful.

When she finally sat with Sahil in the car to leave for her new ‘home’ , she had a strange joyful feeling. Even though she knew his family fairly well now, still there were some unrestrained emotions which surrounded her. She anticipated her new life in the new house … which she had to make into her loving caring ‘home’. She remembered what her dad told her, “beta, you come back to our home anytime if your in-laws or Sahil are not worthy of the love, respect and affection that you shall give them. And I hope and pray, that day shall never dawn.”

With gleaming eyes she looked at Sahil and smiled as he took her hand and kissed it gently.
