Peace In Blue

It has been a year since we started seeing each other. And we could only meet thrice. He was very dedicated to his duties and I didn’t mind being his second choice.

For I knew his love and passion for IAF. We used to talk over various matters, but I remember whenever he narrated a story from his AFA days or the glorious moments he had heard from his seniors, his eyes had a special glow, a glow of pride.

It never bothered me, rather I was proud of him being so proudly and selflessly invested for the nation. There were days we could hardly talk and even days we didn’t, for he was deported to places with less to nil connectivity. The places where he spent days without eating properly, or bathing or even a good night sleep in a cozy corner. Just for the sake of guarding his nation, for the sake of his family, his girlfriend and everyone’s family.

I’ve heard the stories of his and all his fellow mate's hardships, those stories gave me goosebumps but he narrated them with such delight and pride. Seeing fear crawling up in me he flaunted his reasons for joining IAF. With a little smirk he said “It feels good to serve the one you love, and if you love someone, no catastrophe is big enough in front of her”- with his blue uniform on and pride in his eyes.
