Patriarchy : What is it all about

"Patriarchy" such a commonly word used these days and most often by girls who somewhere feel bound by rules and regulations which don't give them the right  to make choices for their own life.

From what I have understood all my life Patriarchy is grandfather discouraging grandmother in offering her love and care to her daughter and grand daughters in the name of her now being a part of another family. Maternal uncles competing for love and affection from their parents and not accepting the love of granny for her daughter as normal. Maternal Aunties and their children competing and trying to prove themselves as superior.

Maternal grandfather interfering with the choice of career by the grand daughter. Not allowing her to pursue the career of her choice as according to him it's not good for girls.

Maternal grandfather turning his eyes away after loss of son in laws life and encouraging his son's to do the same with the hope that the daughter will surrender to his choice of her way of living.

Maternal grandfather not allowing the grandmother to do anything for her ailing daughter. Waging a war against his own daughter so that she surrenders totally to him and forget that she had ever got married for he did not like her free will choice that she had recklessly pursued for it was a love marriage.

Maternal grandfather constantly making his son's feel insecure on the false statement that he would give his property to his daughter so that they serve him well and hate their sister.

The daughter inspite of all this arranging a help for him when he fell sick and getting him treated when he fell sick. The daughter constantly urging her brothers to respect their father.

The maternal grandfather failing to recognise his grand daughter in front of his son's while recognising them all in his last days. The grand daughter remembering him all the while as a man of principles and today realisimg after all these years the fake basis of principles.

Patriarchy is this conditioning of minds to accept the seemingly wrong and unjust behaviour of the elderly males as normal. 

Freedom is realising what is right and what us wrong and not accepting the wrong at any cost. 

THE OPPOSITE OF PATRIARCHY IS FREEDOM.
