Satyaprem ki Katha - A Conventional Bollywood rom-com drama with a very important takeaway!

It wasn’t surprising that the film had a low turnout on the opening day despite releasing on a Public Holiday, as the Makers didn’t quite reveal the twist in the film’s trailer. All that was shown merely made it look like one of those regular love stories. It wasn’t to be as one would realise after watching the film eventually.

It starts off with an Extravagant song showing the Lead Actor dreaming to be dancing at his own wedding, which is actually his goal rather than making a living. Kartik Aaryan is without a doubt the heart and soul of the film, courtesy of his effortlessly brilliant performance as the jobless yet selfless Satyaprem aka Sattu. His dream-come-true Wife Katha played by Kiara Advani is equally good in her own complicated space, and adds a lot of value to the film. The script with its thoughtful twist, however, is the highlight of the film, for its sheer simplicity and honesty, although it gets a bit predictable in between, but does keep the audience intrigued for the entire duration of 146 minutes. A few crucial scenes in the film move the audience while the catchy songs with a soulful music score add relevance to the storyline. Not to forget the character actors Gajraj Rao, Supriya Pathak and Siddharth Randeria who make the most of their screen space while everyone else do their bit in their blink-and-miss appearances. It’s that kind of a film that the masses will so well relate to, and hence it strikes a chord with them right from Scene 1 till the end leaving a lasting impact. Director Sameer Vidwans does a commendable job by managing to create humour in a supposedly serious drama, and a special mention to the film’s Writers for penning down a strong subject.

All said and done, it’s a must-watch for all age groups as the lead actor keeps saying in the film that there’s no point in thinking before saying the truth. Happy Viewing Everyone!
