"Misri, o misri. Where are you?? Come here, little girl." Roma, a mid-age woman, called out for a fifteen years old girl named Misri. " Yes aunty, I am here." Misri reverted with a smile. " What the hell are you doing there? Come down now. We have to go to a place right now" Misri's aunt insisted. Misri, who was busy flying kites from the terrace, came down as soon as her aunt asked her to come down. " Where are we going, aunty?" Misri asked out of curiosity. Her maternal aunty replied annoyingly "hurry up now, we don't have time to talk. Let's get going." Misri followed Roma and within no time they reached a place near the seaside.
It was a club and it was full. There were people all around playing cards and we're drinking. Misri was quite taken aback when she traced every corner of this place. " Aunty, where did you bring me? I don't like this place." Misri said seriously. " Wait, my dear. I have an appointment with a man." Replied Roma. " What man? And in this place?" Misri asked, worried and confused. " Yes, now keep quiet," Roma replied and looked around the room in search of a familiar face. At that moment, a man in his thirties walks towards her with a smile on his face. " Hello Roma, I am Peter." The man introduced Her. " Oh yes Mr Peter, this is Misri, the girl I was talking to you about," Roma said.
"Ya, she is beautiful but very delicate for this job." Said the man. "Oh, it's fine she'll be used to this profession. After all, who will take care of her? We belong to a poor caste and cannot afford money to spend on her." Replied Roma briefly. "Alright. Does she know about it??" Asked the man. "No sir, that you have to explain to her. If she resists, force her to do so." Roma exclaims. The man agrees and takes Misri to the red lightroom. Misri silently followed him and he locked the door. Misri was unaware of it. "Look, you will get a job, but before that, you have to open up to me. Now be a good girl and open your dress." The man insisted with a firm voice. Misri was shocked. She understood that she was trapped. " Common, make it fast." The man shouted. But Misri didn't move. He then pulled her towards him wildly and tried to unbutton her dress. Misri shouted "help me. Somebody help me." And tried hard to push him away.
But the man was too strong for her. "Where are you going little girl. Come to me." He said in a filthy tone. After a few minutes of struggle, Misri caught a flower vase in her hand and banged on his head. Instantly the man fell to the ground. Misri knew that getting out was not so easy. Her aunt will be outside and will push her again in this dirty job. So she ran to the other side of the room where there was a window with no grills on it. She found a chance to escape and ran away from that place.
But now, Misri was all alone, afraid and tired and hungry as well. She didn't know what to do and where to go. And walking for a mile she sat on top of the cement bench and was in dismay. When a car halts in front of her. Misri looked up in fear when a woman came out to her. "Are you alone??" The lady asked. Misri glanced at her from top to bottom. "Yes." She replied. "I am here to help you, my child. There are many girls and boys like you who stay in orphanages. Come with me. You will be safe". The lady assured her. Misri was afraid at first. But then gradually agreed to go with her.
And within a few days, Misri found a safe place to stay and read and learn many things. Her life was miserable and in danger. But now she is safe in this orphanage with other pals and under the lady whom they call 'amma'. Her life turned into an unexpected fortune that lead to a better and improved life.
