Kind Words

Kind Words

Exactly once every fortnight I see a little girl from my neighborhood. She comes to play on her home terrace, which is parallel to mine and hence we greet each other invariably.

Apart from her bright smile which I love, what stands out is her impeccable manners. When she addresses me or anyone around, she uses a few words profusely. Such as, "Thank You", " Please", "Sorry".

When I think about it, I fondly remember how my parents often insisted that we use such kind words in our speech. They would say that, it is not only kind and polite, but also wins people given that people love to be treated with respect.

My sister and I did not miss a chance to use them but as we grew up, atleast I seem to have forgotten them completely.

Why?

As an adult, do I think manners do not matter anymore?

Many a times we learn a lot as children however, as we grow up, somehow lot of it gets unlearned. Without even we realizing it or intending it.

The little girl is not only a dear friend to me now but also a gentle remainder of all the lessons learned as a child.

Do you also have such lessons you learned when you were young but forgot them as years passed? Why so?
