Long time ago when I visited a grocery store, I handed over a piece of paper with all items written down. The worker at the store confirmed each item on the list -it clearly hinted that he couldn't read what was written.

I narrated the whole incident to my parents back home. Ever since my childhood, my parents and my teachers often asked me to work on my handwriting. However, I heard them patiently but did not work on it. I thought that not everyone is gifted with a beautiful handwriting. That it is okay not to write very well!

That day, my parents empathized with me and gave me a valuable suggestion: a three step strategy to improve my handwriting.

Firstly, if one "cared" about what they wrote they would naturally do it with focus and involvement. There will not be haste but absolute care. Secondly, if we put ourselves in the reader's place and for once try and "read" what we write, we will be able to articulate our thoughts so much better. Last but not the least, if we are able to even take one quick glance, it gives a vibe if the reader can "understand" the contents well.

So, care-read-understand is all that matters. My parents signed off with a smile.

Ever since I started using the technique, not only has my handwriting improved but also how I feel and how I perform. I realized that I may not be gifted with a beautiful handwriting but that does not stop me from working towards making my existing handwriting beautiful.

What about you? Did you also struggle with bad handwriting? How did you work on it? Who helped you?
