Fear vs Love

A dear friend called me to share a special story. 

She described to me an ordeal she and her family went through recently. Her little daughter had to undergo treatment for a serious injury. My friend took the end to end responsibility at the hospital for the entire week. By God's grace and grandparents' blessing, the little one is back home safe and happy. 

Firstly it upset me deeply that the little darling and the whole family had to suffer so much. However, I felt gladly relieved that they are all back to healthy and happy lives. What did surprise me the most is that my friend managed to be in the hospital for the whole week. 

Having known my friend for two decades, I know she cannot stand the very thought of being in a hospital let alone the sight of blood and syringes. Hence, her parents and later her husband too always ensured she stayed away until it was an emergency. 

This time it was different! My friend had taken the decision to conquer her fear. And that too all by herself. Hence she took her daughter to the hospital and promised her parents and family that she will be strong and handle all the matters.

 Every passing moment was a huge challenge given that merely being in the hospital resulted in nauseating feelings and severe headache. Still, she held on to it. Much to the pleasant surprise and relief of everybody including me who was listening to the story. 

Mother and daughter came home happy and healthy. Hearing that left me in joyous tears. 

When I asked my friend what made her take the big step of conquering her fear of three decades. 

"Just for once- for the love for my daughter, I prayed and went ahead to face the hospital fear. This time, though, with more love and less fear. Love did all the magic." My friend shared the secret strategy. 

Isn't it true? If only we face fears with more love, maybe, just maybe, we will do much better. We should definitely try.
